Russia threatened to retaliate on Saturday after it claimed the previous day that Ukraine had used ATACMS ( Army Tactical Missile System ) to attack its territory in Belgorod’s border region.
Last year, incoming US President Joe Biden gave Kyiv the authority to employ long-range arms against Russia, a move the Kremlin described as a significant increase of the issue. The Russian defense ministry reported that on January 3, a missile attack against the Belgorod place was attempted from Russian country using US-made ATACMS operational-tactical weapons.
” These behavior by the Kyiv government, supported by American administrators, will be met with retaliation”, it added, saying all the weapons were shot over. Before, it said that air threats downed eight ATACMS weapons in full, without saying when or where.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, threatened last year to launch a fast ballistic missile attack on central Kyiv if Ukraine continued to use long-range Western weapons against Russian territory.
US President-elect Donald Trump said in an interview next month he was “very passionately” opposed to Ukraine using the hands, which he said were “escalating” the issue.
Since the start of the season, both Kyiv and Moscow have charged one another with killing residents.
A 74-year-old man was killed earlier on Saturday when a Russian attack on a town in the northeast of Kharkiv, according to provincial governor Oleg Synegubov.
One of the few towns in the northeast Lugansk area that is still under Kyiv’s power was Nadiia, which Russia’s defense ministry announced on Saturday.
Moscow advanced by about 4, 000 square miles in Ukraine in 2024, according to an AFP research. agency
