DHAKA: Bangladesh’s International Crimes Tribunal ( ICT) on Monday issued arrest warrants against deposed PM Sheikh Hasina and 11 others, including former military officials, for their alleged role in incidents of “enforced disappearances” during the tenures of the Awami League govt.
This is the second permit against Hasina, amid growing requirements from different quarters, to take her to justice, particularly for” crimes against humanity” committed during the period of protests that led to her govt’s drop in Aug next year. Even though India is yet to react to Dhaka’s Dec. 23 demand for Hasina’s extradition, the court ordered that the accused be detained and presented to it on February 12.
Hasina and the others ‘ names were not revealed by ICT chief prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam during the hearing for the” sake of imprisonment and research.” The kidnappings took position under Hasina’s primary care, he claimed. Tajul also claimed that” those who have been released from their kidnappings, were released on Hasina’s purchases”. He claimed that some members of the security forces committed acts like disappearing in order to be promoted and posted in UN missions. Hasina has been requested to be detained by Interpol.
