On Monday, the incoming presidents Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden made a visit to Bourbon Street to give gift to the 14 people who were killed in the New Year’s vehicle assault in New Orleans.
The senator and first lady visited a momentary memorial situated near the holiday region where Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the think, drove his pick-up vehicle into a crowded location.
The First Lady placed flowers at the site of the monument while the two observed a moment of silence. President Biden, practising his Catholic devotion, performed the sign of the cross as he left.
They immediately met with assault survivors, grieving households, and affected law enforcement personnel before attending an interracial monument service at St. Louis Cathedral.
Speaking on Air Force One’s way to New Orleans, White House spokesman Karine Jean-Pierre stated that Biden has requested “additional national resources to help the city of New Orleans prepare for future key activities.” :
According to reports organization AFP, these upcoming activities include Mardi Gras, which ends on March 4 and the NFL Super Bowl tournament, which is scheduled for February 9.
The FBI continues to check the New Year’s Day event, which they have classified as an” act of terrorism.”
The culprit, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a previous US troops soldier, was killed in a police clash following the attack. He had earlier publicly supported the Islamic State through social media.
