Imran Khan and his family Bushra Bibi’s conviction in the 190 million-pound fraud case against the former prime minister and his wife was postponed until January 13 according to a Pakistani court on Monday. The anti-corruption judge determine Nasir Javed Rana finished the reading on December 18 but gave the ruling until December 23. After he fixed January 6 as the new day for announcing the conviction, Geo News reported.
The jury team stated that the decision would be made on January 13 after mentioning Judge Rana’s Monday leave.
The court also provided the National Accountability Bureau ( NAB) prosecutor and his attorney with information regarding the decision to postpone the verdict.
The delay comes as a result of the government and Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI ) party’s ongoing negotiations to address the country’s political unrest brought on by the former prime minister’s and several other party leaders ‘ imprisonments.
There have been two rounds of talks so much, and another is anticipated this year.
The National Accountability Bureau ( NAB) in December 2023 filed the case against Khan ( 72 ), Bibi ( 50 ) and six others, accusing them of causing a loss to the tune of 190 million pounds ( PRs50 billion ) to the national kitty.
But, Khan and Bibi have been prosecuted as all others, including a property tycoon, were out of the state.
In the case, Khan and Bibi are accused of being involved in complaints that the UK’s National Crime Agency returned to Pakistan in exchange for PRs50 billion as part of a deal reached with a property tycoon was used.
The money apparently went to the national Treasury, but it was later allegedly used to fund the businessman’s personal development, who assisted Bibi and Khan in starting a school.
Bibi, as a director of the Al-Qadir Trust, is accused of benefiting from this colony, including acquiring 458 hectares of land for Al-Qadir University in Jhelum.
