In a move that could strengthen the International South, Indonesia has become the newest member of the Brics cluster of developing countries. According to a statement from the bloc’s ministry of foreign affairs, Brazil, the bloc’s president for this year, on Monday, announced Indonesia’s proper accession to the group as a full member. Un countries unanimously approved Indonesia’s entrance into the party, it said.
” Rs is an important app for Indonesia to strengthen South-South assistance, ensuring that the voices and dreams of International South governments are heard and represented in global decision-making methods”, Indonesia’s ministry of foreign affairs said Tuesday. ” We are totally dedicated to working with all Brics people, or with other parties, to understand the construction of a only, peaceful and prosperous world”. It’s the latest shift of Brics- established by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa- to increase the class that’s positioned itself as an alternative to the US-led world purchase. It recently added Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the UAE to its rates. Malaysia and Thailand have also expressed interest in joining.
