During a lying-in-state service at the U.S. Capitol, Vice President Kamala Harris is delivering a speech to former US President Jimmy Carter.
Harris is scheduled to begin speaking in honor of the government’s 39th president around 4: 30 p. m. Tuesday. At the ceremony, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ) and Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD ) are expected to write eulogies.

At the end of December, 2024, Carter passed away at the age of 100. From Tuesday night through Thursday night, mourning can pay their respects to the former president in Washington as he is laying in position at the Capitol.
The former president’s system will be transported to his hometown of Prairies, Georgia, after a state funeral at the Washington National Cathedral on Thursday.  , President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump are expected to attend the death.
