If he hadn’t been forced out of the contest, Presidentish Joe Biden insisted once more in an interview this week with USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page. He insisted once more that he could have faced Donald Trump in November. The soon-to-be-ex-president sat down for what was likely his final one-on-one meeting and, like getting an unwelcome present, I wanted to say to Biden,” You really shouldn’t have.”

When Biden was asked if he had the chance to defeat Trump once more, he showed a much mock sincerity. ” It’s foolish to say that, but I think yes, based on the voting” that he saw last summer. This little stone from next season’s Wall Street Journal bomb report, Page left out of her writeup:” Click aides who compiled packages of news clips for Biden were instructed by senior staff to eliminate bad stories about the president. The senator was not speaking with his own experts because surveys showed him to be in the race for 2024.
Emphasis added.  ,
Thank god for recordings, even though I’d be surprised to learn that USA Today hadn’t done a lot of editing on this one because Page likewise omitted a sundowner time that wouldn’t have been obvious if we hadn’t previously seen so many of them.
And Another Point: Yet with some lingering faults, Grok’s image engine is getting better all the time. I wanted to use the vacant glance that Biden displayed during his 2024 argument against Donald Trump for the AI picture, and Grok did it on the first attempt.
When asked about Hunter Biden’s cover pardon, Biden responded,” I meant what I said when I was asked if I was going to pardon my brother.” ” But finally I found out two components. Variety one, that he had paid all his income. He paid them later. He was fighting a medicine issue. And he won. He’s been sober and rectangular for about six years. This was back in ‘ 80, I mean pardon me, in 2000, and … What year was it? Regardless, long time ago”.

Six years ago was 2019, but who’s counting?
Biden did admit that he might not have made it through a ( mercifully hypothetical ) second term. ” I don’t understand. Who the devil knows? So much, but good”, he told Page. ” But who knows what I’m going to get when I’m 86 years outdated”?
” Mean, small-minded, and minor” would be my imagine because some things never change.
One of the most horrible and enduring events in film story comes to mind as I consider Biden. It’s decency of Marlon Brando as failed athlete Terry Malloy in Elia Kazan’s” On the Waterfront”. After being a witness to a local mobster murdering a fellow longshoreman, Terry is compelled by his brother Charlie ( Rod Steiger ) to keep his mouth shut. Terry comes to the realization that he threw his existence aside while fighting for the Crowd at that time.  ,
You can almost hear Trump mumble,” I coulda hit Trump. I coulda had school. I coulda been a candidate. I coulda been something, instead of a backside, which is what I am”.
But just almost.  ,
I don’t know which is sadder, Terry’s discovery that he’s a backside or Biden losing what’s left of his thoughts before he has his own Come-to-Jesus time.
