The second piece of legislation passed by Congress should be just the start of the Trump administration’s border assault, according to the family of a Maryland woman who was brutally murdered by an improper immigrant.

Tammy Nobles, whose child Kayla Hamilton was sexually assaulted and finally murdered by an illegal immigrant in Maryland while President Joe Biden was in office, claimed on Tuesday that the GOP act fell short of the government’s responsibilities and won’t help prevent illegal immigrant violence.

Donald Trump, the president-elect, made migrant violence the center of his campaign and asked victims ‘ parents to talk about their tragic losses along with them. With the passage of the Laken Riley Act, which demonstrates their interests for the 119th Congress, the House took the first step toward honoring those plan commitments on Tuesday.

After being detained by federal law enforcement at the border, Walter Javier Martinez, who had confessed guilt to killing Hamilton, was later released into the land and ended up living in the same truck as them, missing or ignoring their connection to the Honduran city group MS-13.

The Department of Health and Human Services, which is tasked by Congress with looking after alone babies and finding partners to transfer them to within the United States, was given the freedom to turn the then-underage think over as is customary.

The suspected criminal was detained after crossing the border illegally, according to House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH).

Democrats are now going all-in on the incoming Trump administration’s anti-illegal immigration plan, yet in their first course of action this Congress.

The second bill introduced by the House in this fresh two-year session focused on migrant crime, a phrase that Trump used to advocate for crimes committed against Americans by those who entered the country without authorization.

The Republican Party’s policy intentions are at the forefront as Congress prepares to welcome Trump’s subsequent name, as the Laken Riley Act puts it in the spotlight.

” The act doesn’t actually fix too much. They must make sure that anyone in DHS and HHS prison follows the appropriate methods,” Nobles said in a Tuesday phone call. The ability to detain illegal immigrants who were being detained on small theft claims was a” small issue” compared to the “large issue” of federal authorities at the border producing known thieves and crew members into the country.

” I&nbsp, am not against the Laken Riley expenses, but there is a bigger problem. In a text message that came after a phone call, Nobles stated,” I don’t want anyone to believe I’m against it.”

The Texas Public Policy Foundation in Austin’s Josh Trevio, a frontier policy analyst and general transformation officer, told the Washington Examiner that Republicans are moving quickly, actually and spiritually, to implement what the general public overwhelmingly demanded in the November election.

” I think there is a real desire on the part of the incoming administration and the incoming Congress to actually keep the promises that were made during the campaign and to put the priorities of American citizens first, foremost,” said Trevio.

” Americans deserve what Laken Riley did not get, which is the ability to live in peace and security in their own communities, in their own places, and this is a way to do it”, said Treviño. Any surprise or confusion about whether this is the incoming Congress ‘ top priority from any corner is seen as an expression of dissention among the American people as a whole.

The Laken Riley Act, which was passed by the House on Thursday, is the latest victory for Republicans as they continue to criticize the Biden administration’s border policies, which will require immigration officials to detain immigrants who have committed crimes following the death of a nursing student on the University of Georgia campus.

Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student in Georgia, was kidnapped, sexually assaulted, and murdered by an illegal immigrant from Venezuela in February 2024, while on a jog.

Jose Ibarra, a Venezuelan immigrant who was detained in 2022 on suspicion of crossing the border illegally but later released, was found guilty and given a life sentence in prison in November 2024.

The Senate will now consider the proposal. It was one of the 12 rules packages that the GOP is giving priority in the first few months of this Congress. Riley’s parents had endorsed her bill ahead of its passage Tuesday.

” The Laken Riley Act has our full support because it would help save innocent lives and prevent more families from going through the kind of heartbreak we’ve experienced”, her mother, Allyson Phillips, and stepfather, John Phillips, said in a statement shared by Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA ). ” Laken would have been 23 on January 10th. There is no greater gift that can be made to her and our nation than to carry on her legacy through the passage of this bill.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX ), whose district includes 40 % of the 2, 000-mile southern border, said the immigration focus of House GOP leadership showed that the GOP understands what the public wants from lawmakers.

” The American people demand a 180-degree clean-up of the mess that President Biden created at the border”, Gonzales told the&nbsp, Washington Examiner&nbsp, in a statement last week. ” That’s why Congress is taking immediate action this new session to ramp up deportations, especially for criminal aliens, and improve border security overall. This must be priority number one. 1, 2, and 3″.

Trump has pledged to end” catch and release,” which refers to apprehending and releasing into the country without authorization, and pass numerous executive orders to tighten the border on his first day in office.

Democrats who oppose the Laken Riley Act claimed it does little to address the more extensive immigration program, which calls for comprehensive legislation. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT), the author of the unsuccessful bipartisan border security bill that Democrats supported, claimed the Laken Riley Act has grave flaws and could lead to unproductive lawsuits brought by Republican state attorneys general against the Department of Justice.

At least eight Democrats are required to pass the 60-vote threshold for the legislation before it can pass the Senate floor on Friday.
