University condemns affirmation as being “deeply insulting.”
In an X post on Tuesday, University of Missouri Professor Karen Piper praised the destruction of Trump-supporting actor James Woods ‘ home, calling it “karma,” before walking it back in a statement to The College Fix calling it a” joke.”
” James Woods ‘ property is burning down. It’s karma calling”, wrote the professor, who is retired but will tell one virtual class this spring semester. She has since removed her post in response to the reaction.
Piper stated in an email to The College Fix on Wednesday that she does not “wish everyone any harm.”
” The circumstance in California is heartbreaking and devastating. She said,” Seeing the destruction of so many precious places I used to call home, as a American, makes me particularly sad.”
Before I realized how disastrous the circumstance was, I tweeted that statement. I didn’t believe it may actually happen! It was meant as a prank. My prayer are with all of the subjects”, Piper said.
According to a spokesman for the school, Christopher Ave wrote in an email to The College Fix that Piper’s assertion is “deeply offensive.”
” ]I ] t does not reflect the university’s viewpoint or values. We are reviewing this problem”, Ave stated.
” Piper is retired from the instructors. At this point, she is scheduled to tell one online, upper-level group in creative writing in the springtime semester”, he stated.
Piper also requested explanation on her speech via email and phone, but she did not respond right away.
Piper’s faculty page on the school’s website today states people are” not certified” to access the site.
According to a picture of the site posted to X, however, she has taught “environmental conversation and plan” and” culture change fantasy” at the university.
Additionally, she has authored a book called” Left in the Dust: How Race and Elections Created a Human and Environmental Tragedy in L. A. “examines the environmental justice concerns in Los Angeles relating to water waste and resource scarcity.”
Woods is an Oscar-nominated professional well-known for formally supporting President-elect Donald Trump. According to Newsweek, the artist has described Trump as” a person who is willing to work for free to improve his favorite state” and” the tone of the American people.”
In a blog on X, Woods stated,” I don’t think our beautiful little house in the hillsides held on this much. It feels like losing a close friend.
Woods even uploaded video of the flames erupting from his home.

Claremont Institute Senior Fellow Jeremy Carl, one of the many X people who have criticized Piper’s article.
Are you cool with one of your university people tweeting this about James Woods, @Mizzou? Carl wrote. ” I guarantee you]Republican Sen. Josh Hawley ] isn’t”.
Also, poet and writer Roger Simon stated in a Substack article that he “agree]s ] with the artist James Woods who lost his house and has blamed the amount of the L. A. fires on’ progressive idiots.'”
He even commended Woods for exposing the L. A. police leader’s diversity, equity, and incorporation interests.
Woods once more put it well, citing the mayor’s profile, which exposes her true priorities that have nothing to do with battling fires, and noted that refilling the reservoirs might have been one of her priorities in such a dry area.
