The report from left-wing press on Wednesday that Associate Justice Samuel Alito gave a job reference to one of his former staff to Donald Trump was anxiously reported.
” William Levi, one of my previous law clerks, asked me to take a visit from President-elect Trump regarding his qualifications to offer in a government position. I agreed to discuss this matter with President-elect Trump, and he called me yesterday day”, Alito told ABC News, which broke the startling information that an employer gave a career research for one of his former employees.
CNN, Politico, CBS News, Rolling Stone, Associated Press, New York Times, NBC News, and a host of different left-wing media outlets amplified the report about Levi’s efforts to secure a job as the Defense Department’s general counsel and suggested it was part of an elaborate conspiracy to change the outcome of a looming situation. In the 2011-2012 word, Levi served as Justice Alito’s clerk and was the chief of staff for former Attorney General Bill Barr.
Federal judges and Supreme Court justices often provide references to former clerks in the same way that other employers often do so for former employees. Federal judges ‘ ethical guidelines address this fact and provide advice on how to deal with it in the published ethics consulting opinions.
There would be no wrongdoing in a judge responding to an inquiry from a screen council or appointing expert with respect to the judge’s knowledge regarding the qualifications and other important factors of a nominee for appointment to any public office, according to these guidelines. Additionally, judges does not establish contact with Congress or the White House.
If all you read was Adam Liptak’s secretive essay for The New York Times, you wouldn’t know that criminal ethics code approve of career links.
Justice Alito claimed that Mr. Trump was considering applying for a position in the government because the call was a regular job reference.
It was not apparent, but, why Mr. Trump did make a visit to check references, a job usually left to lower-level assistants.
Therefore Liptak quoted left-wing advocate Gabe Roth, the executive director of Fix the Court, who claims to be a quietly funded left-wing advocate group that has fought the three most recent Republican nominees for the Supreme Court. It also seeks to package the court with more judges in order to change the results of its choices, term-limit sitting judges, require newscasts of oral quarrels, and forbid the justices from holding stocks.
” Typically” ,]Roth ] added,” Trump and Alito are better at hiding their ethics issues, at least for a few months or sometimes longer. However, it seems there is no reason to even try now that the Supreme Court approved of nearly absolute presidential immunity last year and that Congress has refused to pass enforceable ethics for the justices.
Liptak never mentioned whether Roth’s assertion about providing a job reference was unethical at any point. Liptak kept the moral standards a secret from the audience. Instead, he and other left-wing media outlets spread a sophisticated conspiracy theory that the calls were somehow connected to Trump’s efforts to combat Democrat lawfare in his transitional period. In the Trump show trial that he ran earlier this year, New York State Supreme Court judge Juan Merchan scuffled a Supreme Court ruling from July 2024 regarding presidential immunity.
Merchan, a literal Biden donor with financial conflicts of interest, should have recused himself from the trial or been removed. His daughter works for a company where prominent Trump supporters include his Democratic opponents. Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney, brought the case using provocative and exotic theories that were even criticized by left-wing observers. His team included a bevy of Biden-connected attorneys. Without regard for Trump’s constitutional rights, the prosecution and trial were conducted. For instance, Democrat donor Merchan denied Stormy Daniels ‘ testimony to the prosecution, but he also denied the testimony of the nation’s top campaign finance expert. Campaign finance violations are allegedly the subject of the case.
After the Supreme Court stated that official presidential acts cannot serve as grounds for the president’s prosecution, Merchan should have vacated the guilty verdict he won through his handling of the contentious trial or issued an acquittal. According to the prosecution, Trump was found guilty based on his alleged conversations with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, which the Supreme Court would unmistakably rule against.
Instead, Marchan has pushed for sentencing of Trump on Friday. Trump’s legal team also filed an appeal to the Supreme Court in the Merchan case after speaking with him this week. The media is making the claim that the job reference call was somehow connected to this subsequent Supreme Court appeal. They might assume that Alito offered a job reference to a clerk in exchange for upholding the Supreme Court’s earlier decisions regarding presidential immunity. They might speculate as to why Trump offered Levi a job in exchange for Alito to make decisions in the same manner for 19 years. Perhaps they are just consumed with so much hatred that they are drawn to conspiracy theories whenever Trump is mentioned?
We did not talk about the emergency request he made today, Alito said in his statement, and in fact, I was unaware that such a request would be made at the time of our conversation.
A year-long information operation by the left-wing media and other Democrats has made it seem like Alito and other conservative justices are unethical. The effort grew as Justices Alito and others considered overturning Roe v. Wade, a highly contentious 1973 decision that claimed the United States Constitution had the authority to end the lives of unborn children. The Court returned decisions regarding abortion law to the people and their elected representatives in 2022 after carefully observing the Dobbs decision and carefully noting that the Constitution does not mention such a right.
This campaign has put a strain on conservative justices ‘ safety and lives. After a draft of the Dobbs decision was leaked, a pro-abortion man attempted to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh at the home he shares with his wife and children two years ago in an effort to change the final outcome.
Would-be assassin Nicholas Roske texted before his arrest that” I’m gonna stop roe v wade from being overturned… I could get at least one, which would change the votes for decades to come, and I am shooting for 3.”
Conservative justices have faced a series of well-funded and relentless media attacks, including ones directed at some justices ‘ spouses. For instance, the New York Times ran a never-ending series of articles attempting to remove Alito from office because his wife had flown various flags at her home and beach house. The white flag flying over Martha Alito’s head was mocked in the New York Times, which was reportedly the work of George Washington’s secretary and was flown during the American Revolution. The unintentionally hilarious piece, which was written by Jodi Kantor, Aric Toler, and Julie Tate, was called” Another Provocative Flag Was Flown at Another Alito Home.”
But even by the standards of the left-wing press’s campaign against Alito, this week’s hit is particularly stupid.
