Roy claims that the agreement violates Texas’s morality and challenges state law compliance.
Republican Congressman Chip Roy requested comments on Wednesday regarding his donation to Planned Parenthood from the University of Texas.
” After receiving$ 526, 145 of the$ 2 million allotted by]the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services], the university has sub-awarded a total of$ 49, 458 to the Planned Parenthood of Illinois since September 15, 2023″, the Texas representative stated in a letter to the school, according to a news release.
According to Roy,” Planned Parenthood of Illinois is a dramatic organization, and its affiliation with the University of Texas violates the consciousness of thousands of Texans,” while adding that the pregnancy company “proudly boasts” of providing “free abortions and “gender-affirming hormone treatment.”
He added that Americans have a right to learn the reasons why national grant recipients collaborate with organizations that offer “gender-affirming care” and “abortion,” as well as the terms in which these alliances are established.
The representative requested documents from the school regarding any sub-award grant money received by Planned Parenthood of Illinois and any other abortion services since January 2021.
Roy also questioned whether for funding is in line with Texas law, such as Senate Bill 14, which forbids people funds from funding gender-affirming initiatives for minors.
He requested that the school supply the details by January 22 and provide a response to the letter.
This is not the first time a school has supported or collaborated with Planned Parenthood, the largest provider of pregnancy in the United States.
The University of California at San Diego and Planned Parenthood co-operated an “exchange” agreement last year that included medical research and abandoned maternal body parts, The College Fix previously reported.
In exchange for right to the school’s patents and intellectual property resulting from the studies, the abortion company gave cells from aborted babies to UC San Diego researchers.
Additionally, a few Massachusetts universities collaborated with Planned Parenthood last year to develop “abortion readiness” plans, which were required as part of a new state law. Planned Parenthood is specifically named as a partner in implementing the requirements by the law.
Additionally, a recent study by the Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement found a growing number of Planned Parenthood locations close to colleges and universities as well as a rise in their proximity to these institutions.
