Five weeks before President-elect Donald Trump sworn in, President Joe Biden may give a farewell address to the nation on Wednesday from the Oval Office. The government’s remarks at 8 am Eastern are expected to be his final substantial opportunity to address Americans and the world before he leaves office on January 20 at lunchtime. They may follow a speech at the State Department on Monday, when he will give an address addressing his legacy of foreign policy.
Biden said in a speech from the Roosevelt Room on Friday that he didn’t believe Trump’s victory came from his summers withdrawal from the competition.
After a poor controversy performance, Biden abruptly stepped aside under huge pressure from Democrats, and Kamala Harris took the place with only a few months to organize a campaign that is typically years in the making.
” I think I would have beaten Trump, and I think that Kamala was include- may have beaten Trump”, he said. I believed it was crucial to bring the group together. Even though I believed I could get once more, I felt it was more beneficial to bring the party together.
Biden said he didn’t want to cause a divided group to lose an election, adding:” That’s why I stepped off. But I had faith in her ability to prevail.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre stated to reporters earlier on Friday that Biden would address his “50-plus centuries as a common standard” in his Monday statement.
” He has some ideas on the potential, not just of the country, but how this land moves forward as a chief, when you think about world events, significant global problems, and certainly he will throw that out”, she said.
