No more a place to start dialogues, we want to.
According to a recent study of British universities, many have “scaled again use of X to the bare minimum or stop completely”
This is due to admitted “misinformation”,” material that promotes assault”, and “declining engagement”.
Reuters looked at the X ( formerly Twitter ) accounts of over 150 schools and” their colleges and art conservatoires”, and asked those that hadn’t posted anything recently why this was the case.
Some cited X’s involvement in the alleged” spreading misinformation that fueled competition riots next time.”
The corresponding report, which refers to X owner Elon Musk as” a close aide to United States President-elect Donald Trump”, notes he has called for Prime Minister Keir Starmer” to be jailed”, and for “far-right English Defense League” co-founder Tommy Robinson to be freed from prison.
Reuters doesn’t suggest but Musk is unhappy about the U. K. administration’s response ( or lack thereof ) to” South Asiatic” grooming gangs responsible for some 1, 400 incidents of sexual abuse against sexual adolescents between 1997 and 2013.
Politico , refers to the state statement regarding the groups as “rallying factors for figures on the right of American politics”.
While some U. K. higher physician institutions” also post regularly to X”, Reuters notes the London Business School hasn’t posted anything since September, seven of Cambridge’s 31 colleges have left the platform, and Oxford’s leading scientific college deleted its X account immediately.
According to London Business School, it” continues to review its communication channels and chooses which to use based on level of productive visitors engagement.”
Cambridge’s largest college, Homerton, said” We know this platform]X ] is becoming increasingly toxic, so we will continue to assess our presence on X and monitor emerging alternatives”.
Buckinghamshire New University added that X is” no more a position where we want to encourage discussions with our university,” and that the Royal Northern College of Music is” deliberately channeling its energy abroad.”
Some, like East Anglia and Falmouth University, only pointed to decreased relationship.
Additionally, the report notes that X’s college withdrawal follows that of many scientists. In the U. S., the intellectual journey began around November of 2022 when Musk unbanned Donald Trump following the author’s post-January 6 Capitol riot “permanent expulsion”.
