As the Biden presidency prepares for its veil visit, it is either trying to disaster as much equipment as possible along the way and risk setting Trump and his team in disarray, or it is just unable to accept the reality that a sizable portion of Americans were just fed up with being slackers and scared. The Laken Riley Act has received criticism from the Department of Homeland Security. The justification? A legal alien would cost too much to be deported after being captured, finally housed, fed, and finally deported.

Politico obtained a version of a letter that DHS sent to Congress in December listing the district’s problems. According to the report, DHS is mostly concerned with:
- A lack of mattresses: Since ICE would need to assault and prosecute illegals who are suspected of offences, the number of detainees may quickly exceed the available space. DHS maintains that without more money, at the end of the time, “tens of thousands” of illegals would need to be released, which may include the “potential discharge of genital health threats”.  ,
- A shortage of Enforcement and Removal Officers ( EROs ): According to DHS, over the past ten years, the workforce size has increased while the workload has remained” static” Without increased revenue, “ERO’s inside police work would be considerably reduced”.
- Obviously, we all really can’t get on: DHS cites this excerpt from the bill:” Secretary of Homeland Security shall issue a detainer for an alien… and, if the alien is not otherwise detained by Federal State of nearby officials, shall efficiently and quickly take custody of the alien”. This process, in DHS’ opinion, may be” complicated” due to a possible lack of partner participation at the state and local rates. According to the organization, this would require ERO to locate and detain fugitives who have been found or are accused of home crimes. So, more “egregious criminals” may escape.

According to the original letter, personnel and equipment would need to be paid for in order to fulfill the bill’s requirements for purposes of$ 14, 799, 526. Additionally, DHS claims that it would cost$ 3.2 billion to increase the detention capacity by over 60, 000 beds. But wait, there’s more.
NEW: Sources at DHS are telling me the cost of Laken Riley Act would be more like$ 20-30 billion, citing a$ 7 billion figure just for beds BEFORE the mandate’s costs on local law enforcement. https ://t.co/ZfMrNTvgJ9— Pablo ManrÃquez ( @PabloReports ) January 12, 2025
The House of Representatives and Senate of Representatives passed the Laken Riley Act. Not to mention that 159 Democrats voted against it while 48 Democrats crossed the hall to meet all the Republicans in doing so.
Mayorkas and Co. might want to tell them that Mayorkas and Co. needed this act because he refused to perform his job. Because he refused to do his work, Laken Riley and other survivors were murdered. Because he refused to complete his work, Tren de Aragua took over apartment buildings in Aurora, Colorado. He refused to do his work, which is the reason this problem will cost so much to mend, assuming the figures in the letter are accurate. A concern that Mayokas and the Biden administration have created is now too expensive to fix, according to Mayokas and the Biden administration.  ,
