Jordan Goudreau, a U. S. Army Special Forces” Green Beret” veteran , facing federal charges , for arms smuggling and conspiracy to defraud the U. S. state, has told a federal judge he intends to confirm he committed those functions at the urging of leaders in the highest levels of the U. S. state.
Goudreau is the owner of Silvercorp USA, a private security outsourcing firm. He and his company took part in a 2020 coup attempt to overthrow Nicolas Maduro, the country’s interim president. The” Operation Gideon” plot, which was scheduled for May 3, 2020, was ultimately abandoned when Colombian authorities arrived on a pair of vessels from Colombia shortly after they captured the small assault force.
The abuse force consisted of Colombian military sympathizers, and two additional Army Green Beret soldiers, Airan Berry and Luke Denman.
While the U. S. state has opposed Maduro, they’ve disavowed any relation with Goudreau and Operation Gideon. For the arms he allegedly exported for the function and for defrauding the U.S. state, federal prosecutors charged Goudreau with a series of wings trafficking offenses this summer.
In a Jan. 10 , court processing, Goudreau’s counsel gave notice that they intend to argue Goudreau was recruited for the activity by people of Donald Trump’s first presidential management.
In the processing, Goudreau’s lawyers said Trump’s long-time individual companion, Keith Schiller, recruited him for the procedure. Additionally, the registration state,” Mr. Goudreau was advised that the procedure was sanctioned and approved by the professional branch, especially, Vice President Mike Pence”.
The Green Beret veteran also , posted , on his Instagram accounts on Jan. 10, asserting the CIA and FBI sabotaged Operation Gideon in an effort to hurt Trump.
” I want to thank the CIA and FBI on a job well done. Due to your actions in Venezuela in 2020, Nicolas Maduro, the executive director of my activity, is being sworn in today. Good work fellas”, Goudreau said.
Alcalá Cordones, a former Venezuelan military general turned defector, who pled guilty to funneling support to left-wing guerillas in Colombia known as the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia ( FARC ), has previously asserted he was connected to Operation Gideon and that the plot involved individuals in,” the highest levels of a number of U. S. government agencies”, including the CIA, Treasury Department, Drug Enforcement Administration, Department of Justice and the White House National Security Council.
According to Alcalá’s attorneys, the majority of the information demonstrating U.S. government knowledge in the fight to overthrow Maduro would likely be classified and would need to be disclosed to the defense under the Classified Information Procedures Act ( CIPA ). Judge Alvin Hellerstein, the judge overseeing Alcalá’s situation,  , rejected , his demands to ignore the costs.
