Mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass opted not to fiddle while Rome burned, but she did so by slashing the funds for the fire department by$ 17 million and ignoring the cries of her fire key. Instead, she took a taxpayer-funded excursion to the Paris Olympics.  ,

Three, really. Three taxpayer-funded visits to the Paris Olympics that lasted two months. But consider the yards she made.
Certain, Bass was staying on a White House vacation in Ghana last week when the flames started, but that was just plain stupid. According to a report from the New York Times now, Bass only considers her position to be part-time.
According to the NYT, a review of Ms. Bass’s common daily routine for the past month indicates that she has traveled out of the city at least four times in the past year at town expense. ” Three times to France for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and once to Mexico for President Claudia Sheinbaum’s opening.”
It gets worse. Even though she didn’t need to, Bass had made a pledge during the gubernatorial race of 2022 to cut back on her journey abroad.
And Another Thing: How does anyone travel to the same European city ( from California! ) three times in two months? When my wife and I were given a two-week be at her best friend’s bridal in the UK 20 years ago, we made the decision to attend. One only travels for a few times and does not go that far. What do people say in response to the question,” Would you like to spend two months in London?” And I’d state,” The same thing everybody else does: appearance for great Roman”. Then suddenly, we had to go on our own money.  ,
According to the Times, Bass” spoke openly” about what she perceived as a possible disadvantage of the position, including her lack of international travel and participation in international politics.

” I went to Africa every couple of months, all the time”, she said in a 2021 meeting. ” The idea of leaving that, specifically the global job and the Africa job, I was like,’ Mmm, I don’t suppose I want to do that.'”
” It’s only a drawback if you let it be a drawback”, seems to be Bass’s can-do attitude now that she’s safely ensconced in office ( for now ) although you wonder if voters will admire it.  ,
This was the promises she made therefore:” Not only would I of course live here, but I also would not go abroad — the only places I may get may be D. C., Sacramento, San Francisco, and New York, in relation to L. A”.
This is what the NYT published immediately:” That commitment has been magnificently broken”.
The notion that this is the New York Times ‘ most popular account indicates that the left is hanging her out, Robert Sterling said in an interview with X. They know she’s bread, so they’re sacrificing her to defend Newsom, their chosen candidate for 2028″.
What was Stephen Kruiser really telling you in tomorrow’s Morning Briefing? Oh, straight, this:” By the time the second presidential campaign period rolls around, the Democrats may have put a stop to Gavin Newsom’s slow-kiddish response to the Los Angeles flames on hold and will be all-in on treating him like the second coming of JFK.”
I want to keep Bass governor because Barack Obama gave him the go-ahead. ” His help helps add pounds to Bass ‘ campaign argument that she’s the only real Democrat in the competition and that her opponent, Rick Caruso, became one out of social expediency”, the L. A. Times reported during the municipal primaries.

Here’s the president Los Angeles could have had:
Los Angeles needs to fully finance our fire division and recoup the funds from 2009. As governor, I will protect those that put their lives on the line to protect our areas. # CarusoCan pic. twitter.com/bXeQFpYlao— Rick J. Caruso ( @RickCarusoLA ) July 1, 2022
And how’s the governor it does have:
