Russia charged Ukraine on Monday with attacking the TurkStream fuel pipeline’s system, which transports Russian gas through Turkey.
” On January 11, the Kyiv plan, in order to cut off fuel supplies to Western countries, attempted an assault with nine drones”, on a gas turbine train in southern Russia that supplies the TurkStream network, Moscow’s military ministry said in a statement.
All drones were shot down, according to the report, with the falling debris causing “minor injury” to a tower and products at a gas measuring place.
The site is situated in the town of Gai-Kodzor, which is close to the Black Sea’s southeastern coast of Russia and across the island of Crimea, which has been strongly criticized by Kyiv throughout the three-year issue.
The defense ministry claimed that stockpile was still flowing in “normal mode” and that there hadn’t been any interruptions.
The final effective network carrying Russian gas to Europe is TurkStream, which runs from Russia under the Black Sea to Turkey and then away through the Balkans.
Its yearly power is 31.5 billion cubic meters, and it runs 930 kilometers under the Black Sea.
On January 1, Ukraine halted the transport of Russian oil, which had for years been Russia’s main way of transportation to Europe.
Since Moscow launched its full-scale defense offensive against Ukraine in February 2022, the 27-member EU has been reducing its dependence on Russian oil.
Despite lower gas imports from the pipeline, several European nations have increased their purchases of the ship’s transportation of Russian liquefied natural gas ( LNG ).
