Donald Trump, the receiving US senator, stated on Monday that he is “very nearby” to negotiating a ceasefire with Hamas before his opening on January 20.
When asked about the prisoner package, Trump claimed that Hamas would be in” a lot of trouble like they had never seen before” and that they are “very close to sealing it.”
In an interview with Newsmax, Trump said,” we are pretty close to getting it done, and they have to get it done. If they don’t get it done, there’s going to be a lot of problems out that, a lot of problem like they have never seen before, and they will get it done. And I understand it’s. It’s been. There’s been a hand and they’re getting it finished and maybe by the close of the week, but it has to get place”.
Trump claimed that if he had been senator, this would never have happened, while he called the hostage situation “horrible thing.” He even said,” Iran didn’t have the money to supply them. Iran was burst largely. And then, you know, they have a lot of money, although they have been hurt over the last few month”.
Both events were “on the verge of a proposal,” according to outgoing President Joe Biden’s remarks at the US condition section.
A bargain was clearly possible, according to US national security advisor Jake Sullivan, with increasing stress on Hamas to believe.
In an interview with Bloomberg’s Washington commission regarding the potential deal, Sullivan said,” It’s there for the taking but the question is now is can we all cooperatively seize the moment and make this happen.
Sullivan mentioned that Biden’s Middle East member, Brett McGurk, had spent over a week in the area finalising deal information. His debate with Israeli and Qatari leaders led to fruitful development.
The Biden administration has maintained cooperation with Trump’s group throughout. Sullivan indicated that Trump’s timeframe expectations haven’t severely impacted conversations.
” The force creating these toward the end of President Biden’s word has been considerable”, Sullivan said. If we can get that final well from both sides, that will help lead to a positive outcome.
According to senior Israeli officers, the first step would involve the transfer of 33 captives, though some may never have survived.
Trump anticipated that the agreement may include returning the remains of hostages who had died from Hamas control.
Sullivan remained optimistic about promising a resolution to the conflict that began with Hamas’s invasion on Israel on October 7, 2023.
” We’ve been here before, we’ve been nearer before and haven’t gotten across the finish line”, Sullivan said.
