Jimmy Carter passed away two weeks ago at the age of 100. Colors across the country, including in Washington, D. C., and Florida’s position cash, remain at half-staff in Carter’s respect. The flags must be there for a month following a president’s death, according to tradition. Joe Biden, senator, and governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL ) ordered all flags to be lowered through Jan. 28.
Trump has complained that the flags will remain half-staff in the days leading up to and during his opening the following year because he was critical of Carter while campaigning for a second term and offered words of praise to the former president after his death.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX ) opted to raise the flags all the way across Texas on Monday. In a statement, Abbott expressed his gratitude for Carter’s services, saying,” We may also recognize the accomplishments of an incoming president and the promising future for the United States of America.”

Trump visited Carter last week while he was lying in position under the Capitol Rotunda and attended the funeral service.
