By promoting the widespread repression of Americans ‘ free speech, Joe Biden is ending his tragic president the way he did when he first started it.
During his fiddling Wednesday evening Farewell Address, the Democrat commander-in-chief bemoaned choices by social media companies to avoid biased, left-wing “fact-checkers” that are often used to judge people ‘ free talk to the benefit of Democrats. The comments make sense given Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s recent statement that Facebook and Instagram are dumping these practices in the ostensible interest of “restoring free expression on]their ] platforms.
” Social press is giving up on fact-checking. The truth is smothered by sits, told for strength and for income”, Biden said. ” We must maintain the social platforms accountable to protect our children, our communities, and our very politics from the abuse of power”.
Got that? It’s not the weaponization of so-called “fact-checkers” to silence speech that’s the problem — it’s allowing Americans to use their First Amendment right that’s a menace to “democracy”.
But Americans don’t get Biden’s call for increased Big Tech repression amazing. After all, it was the first thing that led to his being elected leader.
Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook went into full-on censorship style after the New York Post’s bomb Hunter Biden laptop narrative, which implicated Joe in his mother’s international business dealings weeks before the 2020 election.
On , Online, users were never permitted to share the story, perhaps via direct communication. As blogger Matt Taibbi stated in the” Twitter Files,” the software” took extraordinary measures to control the narrative, removing hyperlinks, and posting warnings that it may be” uncomfortable.” Meanwhile, Facebook announced shortly after the story broke that it would be “reducing]the story’s ] distribution” pending verification by third-party “fact-checkers”.
In the months leading up to the 2020 election, the FBI, which authenticated the computer in late 2019, put pressure on these businesses to delete articles about its content if they arisen before the vote. Since then, Zuckerberg has acknowledged that the FBI’s actions were responsible for Meta’s determination to judge the Post’s monitoring on its platforms.
According to some pollsters, the deliberate effort to silence Americans from learning about and sharing information about Biden and his mother’s business interests may have had an impact on the election’s results. That is not at all unimportant and demonstrates the major damage that censorship can cause to society.
But as we’ve seen throughout his administration, neither Biden nor his jolly band of Socialists treatment. Within weeks of taking office, the presidency was busy working with these same Big Tech companies to judge and remove content that disagreed with the government’s scientific Covid stories. It was irrelevant whether the post contained accurate information; what was important was controlling what people could say and read at any given time.
When the history books are finished, Biden will go on to become the most anti-free speech president to have ever held office. His administration’s obsession with using every tool at its disposal to silence its political adversaries and regular people in the name of unfettered power was and is a national disgrace.
