Emboldened by the wave of false abortion-until-birth vote measures battles in another dark states, Virginia Democrats kicked off the Commonwealth’s House of Delegates 2025 program by voting to enhance an amendment that would enshrine abortion until birth in the state’s constitution.
In the 2024 election, the blue group resisted taking control of the state House. That thin lot, but, hasn’t stopped them from trying to jam their extremist abortion plan through the government immediately after it convened.
In a 51 to 48 party-line voting, the same Democrats who , just killed protections , for children born alive of botched pregnancies voted to clear an unrestricted abortion act they hope will create the state poll in coming years.
To get a ballot from Virginians, the proposed constitutional change must also pass the Senate and then need to be re-approved by both General Assembly body following the following November election. However, Tuesday’s vote on the act indicates that the Democrats are willing to compromise voters ‘ opinions on contraception in favor of the abortion extremism that has plagued the state for years.
Virginia’s abortion laws are now among the most restrictive in the country. However, the majority of Americans oppose killing children after 15 weeks of pregnancy.
The article that was approved on Tuesday goes even further than existing statutes by stating that” may not be denied, burdened, or infringed upon, unless justified by a powerful express curiosity and achieved by the least restrictive means.”
The amendment’s supporters assert that it won’t prevent Virginia from enacting specific restrictions on late-term abortions. However, the amendment text contains ambiguous terms and vague language that are easily taken to denigrate as being harmful to women and infants.
Parents, who Virginia law mandates must sign off before a minor can obtain an abortion, are also threatened by the amendment’s sweeping protection for an “individual’s right to reproductive freedom”.
In fact, the amendment specifically bars Virginia from attempting to “penalize, prosecute, or otherwise take adverse action” against anyone who executes or obtains an abortion at any pointing pregnancy, “except when justified by a compelling state interest”.
” Virginia already allows abortion in the sixth month of pregnancy, but that isn’t enough for Democrats. Their desire to overturn legislation to make third-trimester abortions one of the first votes in 2025 demonstrates how extreme the Democrat party has become. Their actions serve as reminders of Virginia’s upcoming legislative races ‘ high stakes. SBA Pro-Life America Regional Political Director Caitlin Connors stated in a statement that GOP candidates must expose their opponents ‘ radical agendas for forced taxpayer funding of abortion, all-trimester abortion, and parental rights elimination.
