Zachary Young, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, was made to regret on Thursday night after being frequently called a liar in the defamation trial against the outlet.
Judge William Henry ordered CNN’s head lawyers, David Axelrod, on Wednesday to forgive to Young for calling him a “liar” throughout the test. After CNN released a statement that supposedly falsely accused Young of exploiting Afghans looking to leave Afghanistan on a “black business,” Axelrod claimed Young had maintained a security clearance. Young claimed that because of the supposedly defamatory statement and the use of the term “black market,” he lost his job. A security agreement that Young had explicitly forbids involvement in “black areas” was shown to judges.
Axelrod argued, however, that since he had a security clearance, Young may have lied about being able to find employment in the months that followed. However, Young’s attorney informed the court that Young had only learned that he had lost his security clearance in 2022.
When asked Thursday night whether an explanation had been given to Young, Axelrod said he had “not” apologized.
” Why don’t you do that and I may determine whether it’s an apology”, Henry told Axelrod. ” Saying’ I’m sad you were offended by that,’ that’s not an apologies”.
” Mr. Young, I apologize for the remarks I made about the Helios deal and what it represented”, Axelrod said to Young. ” I said you lied during your accumulation. Your testimony witness resembled what we saw in the Conway letter, and I do apologize for that.
Young, however, claimed that he would not recognize the explanation.
Jurors are set to begin discussion Thursday.
Young recently claimed that the CNN review had “wrecked” his life and that he hasn’t worked since the broadcast in November 2021.
” I’m not the same person that I was”, Young testified. ” I’m not the same man woman married. I’m insulted about that”.
Fresh claimed that he has since been given “multiple drugs” for depression and panic attacks and that he is unsure of what the future holds if he is unable to make a living.
” I try to tell myself it’s going to be fine, too. Even in three or four years, everyone changes, and I wake up from this point that was a terrible headache — I don’t think myself”, Young said.
