The Federal Bureau of Investigation ( FBI ) has quietly taken steps to distance itself from the Obama administration’s plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion ( DEI ). As president-elect prepares to take back the oval office Monday, “in recent weeks, the FBI took steps to close the Office of Diversity and Inclusion ( ODI), effective by December 2024,” the agency told Fox News Digital.
Under the Obama administration, the FBI’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion was established in 2012 to deliver “guidance and utilize programs that promote a diverse and inclusive work that allows all employees to thrive and advance. ” ”
In 2021, under the Biden administration, Scott McMillion became the FBI’s second chief variety agent. McMillion claimed that his goals were to “lead the charge” for a” cultural change” at the organization.
President-elect Trump took to social media to target the agency’s closing, writing on Truth Social: “We require that the FBI protect and keep all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office—Never should have been opened and, if it was, should include closed long ago. Why is it that they’re shutting one day before the Commencement of a innovative Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION! ”
According to Fox News, the FBI’s site on diversity and inclusion, which was still available on its site as of Thursday, states that the organization is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workforce. In 2015, the FBI added diversity as one of the organization’s main beliefs.
“We believe that differences in consideration and perception, in race and religion, in preference, and in potential contribute to more productive decision making, travel innovation, and strengthen the employee experience. We are aware that having a more diverse workforce will help us to gain and maintain the confidence of the British people. We even understand that there is more we must accomplish. We stand committed, as today’s FBI, to developing a culture of diversity and variety ” it continues.
Republican Sen. earlier this month is noted by Fox News Digital. Following the New Year’s Day terrorist attack in New Orleans, Marsha Blackburn alleged that “radical” DEI practices had “endangered ” Americans in a letter she sent to FBI Director Christopher Wray.
“ I am deeply concerned that —under your leadership—the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion ( DEI ) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people, ” Blackburn wrote in the Jan. 3 email after referencing the assault.
In a post on X, Blackburn responded to the news, asking,” Why were they allowed to remain focused on La in the first place? The FBI may be focused on getting offenders, no winning membership prizes. ”
