UNR players violate NCAA regulations and college officials, citing security and fairness concerns.
The University of Nevada Reno women’s volleyball staff captain made an offensive statement against a female athlete who was competing against them in a mini-documentary that was released by The Independent Women’s Forum on Friday.
The UNR group defied school rules and NCAA NCAA coverage and was subsequently forfeited against San Jose State University in the documentary.
In the video” Hold the Line: College Volleyball Team Captain Stands Firm Against Male Opponent,” staff captain Sia Liilii and her colleagues discovered that a biological male was competing in their event, 16 of the 17 of them decided to not attend, Liilii says.
” We weren’t completely supported and supported by school officials at our class. We were told we weren’t educated enough on the content”, she said.
However, Liilii “led her group in proudly forfeiting” the match. The group” stood strong for the dignity of women’s sports and gamer safety”, according to an post accompanying the mini-documentary.
” Liilii’s team was forced to make this decision because of the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA ) transgender athlete policy, which states female athletes may be required to compete against males who identify as transgender”, it states.
The university issued a statement announcing its decision to continue with the match despite the team’s concerns.
” It was really gut-wrenching because we hadn’t met with any of the admin at our school”, Liilii said in the film.
Despite this, the adult runners made a statement opposing the female competitor.
” We demand that our right to safe play and good opposition on the jury be upheld. We “refuse to play any game that encourages unfairness against sexual athletes,” the speech reads, as recently reported by The College Fix.
According to the documentary, UNR is also making an effort to advance the fit,” citing state fairness laws that were amended in 2022 to include gender identification and manifestation to the listing of protected characteristics.”
However, the college was forced to sacrifice due to a shortage of willing contributors.
” I was really worried about coming back and putting my label on something that was very controversial”, Liilii said, according to Independent Women’s Forum.
She said she would never “go up and do anything different” and that she is glad that she continued to uphold her values and beliefs.
” The shifts we’re asking for aren’t complicated — they’re really common sense”, she said.
Blaire Fleming, a man tennis player, finished his career after San Jose State University lost to Colorado State University in the Mountain West Tournament past December.
One of five team that didn’t play him forfeited games in favor of UNR.
