BELGRADE: Eight folks died Monday in a fire at a house for older individuals on the fringes of the Bosnian money, Belgrade, that is suspected of being set by a native, authorities said.
Seven people were injured in the incident that erupted around 3:30 a. m. in Barajevo, a town on the southern border of Belgrade, state Strategy broadcast reported.
” Disaster personnel reacted quickly… but sadly the flames had now flared up and eight people lost their lives,” said Serb Social Care Minister Nemanja Starovic.
Police said in a speech that 30 people were in the house when the flames broke out. They said the blaze engulfed over a fourth of the treatment center, which is located in a home in a remote location.
The suspected cause of the fire was fire, police said.
The state attorney’s office said an investigation is also live but that preliminary indications suggest that one of the people who died in the fire had started it.
The injured were transferred to two clinics in Belgrade, RTS said. At least one individual was in critical condition, specialists said.
” This is a great drama, but it could have been actually worse,” RTS quoted disaster field officer Luka Causic as saying.
