President Joe Biden issued clemency for Dr. Anthony Fauci, Retired General Mark Milley, and people of the January 6 committee on Monday just days before President-elect Donald Trump’s opening.
“ I believe in the rule of law, and I am positive that the strength of our constitutional institutions will ultimately succeed over elections, ” Biden said in his speech on the last-minute clemency. “ But these are extraordinary circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing. ”
“Baseless and politically motivated studies wreak havoc on the life, health, and financial stability of targeted people and their families, ” Biden’s speech continued. “Even when individuals have done little wrong—and in fact have done the proper thing—and will eventually be exonerated, the simple fact of being investigated or prosecuted may permanently damage reputations and finances. ”
