President-elect Donald Trump is set to issue an executive order aimed at dismantling all variety, equity, and inclusion efforts within the federal government, according to authorities who briefed writers Monday.
The broad order, expected to remain issued Monday, may even change the title changes for national entities and properties made by President Joe Biden on the basis of DEI. This professional get is meant to create a “golden time for America where we can equip people to feel as though they are all similar, because people are all similar, ” one standard said.
Administration officials framed the purchase as a step toward restoring equitable treatment and upholding the perception of civil rights leaders by ensuring that government policies focus on character more than race, gender, or another identity-based features.
Although a readout of the order was not immediately available, it was described by officials to instruct the Office of Management and Budget and the Office of Personnel Management to coordinate with federal agencies to terminate DEI-related policies, programs, preferences, and activities. Officials emphasized that this will include a comprehensive review of renamed positions, programs, and properties to identify changes made under the Biden administration. Agencies will be required to assess these changes, determine their functions, and develop plans to dismantle what officials called the “DE I bureaucracy. ”
Examples cited include diversity training programs that allegedly labeled all white people as contributors to racism and environmental justice initiatives at the Agriculture Department that cost over$ 1 billion. Officials also raised concerns about safety risks stemming from diversity-focused hiring practices in federal agencies, such as the Federal Aviation Administration, which they claim prioritized identity over qualifications.
The order will direct federal agencies to provide transparency regarding the costs associated with DEI programs. Agencies will also be required to hold monthly meetings, led by the Justice Department and attended by deputy secretaries, to review any remaining DEI programs and assess their compliance with the new mandate.
In addition to targeting DEI initiatives, the order will address what officials described as the Biden administration ’s practice of quietly “renaming ” government positions and properties to align with equity objectives. The Trump administration will require agencies to evaluate these changes and restore names and functions that existed prior to the Biden presidency where necessary.
While Trump administration officials have not specified which properties they plan to rename, several examples from the Biden administration illustrate efforts tied to DEI initiatives. These include renaming Fort Bragg as Fort Liberty and Fort Benning as Fort Moore, reflecting a shift away from Confederate associations.

Officials argue that these measures are necessary to eliminate discrimination and ensure that federal programs serve all people equally. “This is not just legally required; it is morally required, ” one official said.
The dismantling of DEI policies will cover disestablishing environmental justice programs, equity-related grants, and action plans created under the Biden administration. Officials emphasized that transparency and accountability will be central to this initiative, with regular public updates on progress.
