A U. S. Border Patrol agent was reportedly shot and killed by an improper immigrant during a traffic stop in Vermont on Monday shortly after President Donald Trump’s opening.
In a post on X, previously Online, NewsNation writer Ali Bradley said options indicated a Border Patrol agent was fatally shot on Monday by an illegal immigrant during a traffic stop.
“A Border Patrol agent in Vermont is dead after being shot in the neck by an illegal immigrant who sources say was a ‘visa overstay, ‘” Bradley tweeted. “Sources say the adviser was conducting a traffic stop when he was shot. ”
Bradley reported that the shooter was likewise found dead after the killing and that an unnamed woman was “injured in the encounter. ” The NewsNation writer added that the woman’s problem was never known as of Monday.
In an update shared Tuesday on social media, Bradley said resources identified the dying Border Patrol agent as 44-year-old David Maland.

According to Fox News, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed on Monday that a border Patrol agent had been shot and killed at 3:15 p. m. during a traffic stop in Coventry, Vermont, which is located near the border between the United States and Canada.
Following Monday’s deadly killing event, Acting Secretary of Homeland Security Benjamine Huffman issued a statement, saying, “Today, January 20, a Border Patrol agent assigned to the US Border Patrol’s Swanton Sector was fatally shot in the line of duty. Every single day, our Border Patrol agents put themselves in harm’s manner so that Americans and our country are safe and secure. ”
Huffman added, “My prayer and deepest sympathies are with our Department, the Agent’s home, loved ones, and coworkers. ”
The acting secretary of the Department of Homeland Security noted that Monday’s affair was being “swiftly investigated ” and that the department may provide additional information regarding the deadly shooting when more information is available.
According to Fox News, a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Albany department confirmed that both the Border Patrol agent and another person were killed in Monday’s tragedy, while a fourth person was injured and was being held in custody by law enforcement officials.
“FBI employees will be working with our colleagues from U. S. Border Patrol and Vermont State Police to gather information and practice the scene, ” the FBI spokesperson said. “ While there is no threat to the public, Interstate 91 will be closed due to analytical action. ”
