'Trump 2.0 prioritising US-India ties': Jaishankar after Quad meet
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington

Additional matters minister Dr S Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Wednesday, marking the author’s first bilateral relationship since assuming business under the Trump 2. 0 leadership. The debate, held on the outside of the Quad meet, reaffirmed a shared responsibility to strengthening the US-India collaboration and addressing regional and global issues.
Dr Jaishankar shared his feelings of the gathering, noting that the Trump presidency had shown a strong interest in having India involved in important activities. ” It was very evident that the Trump presidency was eager to include India existing at the annual itself. They’re obviously prioritizing the diplomatic marriage,” he said. The Minister pointed out that the first Trump management had contributed significantly to building the marriage, with important efforts from President Trump and Prime Minister Modi laying a solid base that has continued to evolve over time.
Dr Jaishankar also highlighted the importance placed on the Quad, stating,” A very strong sense that the current administration would share our desire as well to get the Quad more, to intensify its activities. ” This reflects a shared responsibility to furthering regional cooperation and stability in the Indo-Pacific.
The Minister expressed confidence in the strong trust between India and the US, calling it a representation of a “very high levels of consolidation” in the two countries ‘ interests. ” We have a very powerful level of confidence now between India and the United States, and there is a lot of great that we can do together on regional and global issues,” he said. He stressed that the debate revealed a shared desire to be bolder, bigger, and more optimistic in shaping the future of their relationship.
While the discussions remained wide, with a emphasis on overarching targets, both sides agreed on the need for greater passion in their diplomatic relations. ” In terms of the diplomatic ties, this was the first day of the presidency, so we had kind of essentially a large brush conversation, didn’t getting too deep into details, but there was an agreement, a consensus between us that we need to become bolder, bigger and more idealistic,” Dr Jaishankar added, reflecting a shared vision to force the relationship to new heights.
The meeting further emphasized the US-India relationship’s growing importance, with a focus on defense, emerging technologies, and the shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific. As India continues to enhance its strategic partnership with the United States, both leaders underscored the critical role of collaboration in addressing regional and global challenges.
The Indian American community, with its growing influence, plays a crucial role in strengthening these ties, particularly as five individuals of Indian origin currently serve in the US Congress, demonstrating their integration and active contribution to shaping US-India relations.
