Pete Hegseth is on the verge of becoming America’s second secretary of defense. But that has n’t stopped identity internet hacktivists from running miserable hit items in an attempt to cylinder his assurance.
On Wednesday night, CNN became the latest left-wing advertising store to cut a last-minute knife work against President Trump’s candidate to guide the Pentagon. Authored by Lauren Fox, Manu Raju, and Pamela Brown, the content effectively attempts to repurpose old media as a “bombshell ” creation that could prevent Hegseth’s assurance.
Citing two unnamed sources, the left-wing protesters there reported facts from the FBI’s background search on Hegseth, the material of which were made available to the head ( Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss. ) and standing part ( Sen. Jack Reed, D-R. I. ) of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Specifically, the artists develop in on claimed comments made by Samantha Hegseth, Pete’s following ex-wife.
According to the statement, the two private resources maintained that the FBI “connected with Samantha Hegseth and she gave a speech in which she discussed issues about Pete Hegseth’s eating. ” One of the sources reportedly “said Samantha Hegseth told the FBI, ‘ He drinks more often than he does n’t. ’ ”
Anyone who reads the claimed statement on its own is likely to come ahead with the impression that Samantha is speaking in the present tense and that Hegseth is now consuming large quantities of alcohol. But it ’s the very next sentence of CNN’s hit piece that dumps cold water on this “bombshell ” development.
“The cause comfortable noted that Samantha and Pete Hegseth have been divorced since 2017,” the statement reads.
In other words, Samantha and Pete have n’t often interacted with one another in about eight times.
“There’s nothing novel here, ” Hegseth’s attorney Tim Parlatore told The Federalist.
As indicated by Parlatore, Hegseth has been open about his past specific problems. During an interview with Megyn Kelly last quarter, the Army veteran discussed the investigations he faced after coming home from implementation and how the man he was therefore is not the man he is today.
“I’ve always had a consuming issue. … No one’s ever approached me and said, ‘ Oh, you should really look at getting help for a drinking [problem]. Previously, ” Hegseth said. “But, you know, what do people do when they come up from battle often? Have some beverages. You know, how do you cope with the spirits you see on the field? Maybe it ’s with a drink. However, cruelly, for too many people, it ’s with the drink and then it ’s melancholy, and even worse, death. ”
Hegseth credited the “grace of God ” for allowing him to find his “chapters of purpose that pulled [him ] out of that. ” He notably spoke of the “two J’s ” that changed him as person: Jesus Christ and his wife, Jennifer.
“Without those two J’s, I had n’t been sitting here right now. But with those two J’s … I’m a very different people than I was 10 years before, than I was 15 years ago, ” Hegseth said. “ But I’m even the right person to be in the Pentagon to know what our fresh warfighters are going through. … I may talk to that because I’ve lived it. ”
CNN’s Wednesday hit item is one of several that left-wing sources have run in recent months in an attempt to rail Hegseth’s assurance.
On Tuesday, NBC News reported on an oath from Hegseth’s past sister-in-law Danielle, who claimed without proof that Pete engaged in intimidating conduct that left Samantha wary for her “safety. ” It is only after visitors get to the seventh paragraph of the article that they are informed that Samantha denies the claims.
The attorney representing Danielle — whom Parlatore recently described as an “anti-Trump far left Democrat ” — officially works for a law firm with strong ties to the Democrat Party, according to Breitbart News.
Parlatore told The Federalist that the media’s smear campaign against Hegseth is the “exact same strategy ” leftist “reporters ” weaponized to try and tank Brett Kavanaugh’s 2018 Supreme Court nomination.
They rolled out “a bunch of stories to try and sink [ Hegseth’s ] nomination from [the ] beginning. When that did n’t work [and ] all those things started to die out, then they [acted up ] in the [confirmation ] hearing, ” Parlatore said. “If they had something great, they may have asked him in the reading. They did n’t. And then, because that fell straight, we are at the 11th minute, and they are pulling out all the starts. They’re gonna hole whatever they probably is, whether it ’s real or not. ”
Hegseth’s election was advanced in a party-line vote by the Senate Armed Services Committee on Monday. According to Fox News ’ Chad Pergram, the higher chamber had probably vote on the Army veteran’s assurance “late Friday evening or in the wee hours of Saturday night. ”
