Software for the new chairman or superintendent of the Jasper County Veterans Affairs division have been submitted to commission for evaluation. If all goes well with the choice committee’s interview operation in the next two days, it is possible a prospect will be recommended for payment acceptance in February.
Dennis Simon, chairman of human assets for Jasper County, said he has been sending software to all five members of the soldiers matters payment ever since the place was posted. The office is in need of a new section mind after the firing of past Veterans Affairs Administrator Alyssa Wilson.
The deadline for applications was Jan. 10. Two days prior to the date, the county had received about 15 uses thus much.
People of the wheel committee were selected during the Jan. 8 veterans affairs committee meet. In addition to Simon serving on the commission as an assistant, the committee chose Mike Gunsaulus, Supervisor Brandon Talsma and commissioners Marta Ford and Ed Spangenburg to carry the discussions.
Simon encouraged commissioners to give him their concerns about personal candidates so that their suggestions may be provided in the meeting process. Nevertheless, to avoid a vote and probable violations to open discussions rules, it was decided that only two directors can function on the council.
Prior to the interview method, Simon recommended commissioners give him and the council an unranked listing of their best five applicants. From there, the committee will decipher who to interview, giving special attention to overlapping names that appear on commissioners ’ top-five lists.
“Once the conversations are done, the selection committee will explore and debate and we will create a proposal to the committee on who to hire, ” he said. “Obviously, you have the programs so if there is something you disagree with you can lead us to do more discussions if you’re no content or anything. ”
Finally, the decision to hire a new executive or producer comes down to the acceptance of the Jasper County Board of Supervisors.
“The committee can review it simple enough or they can say no and take us back to the drawing table, ” Simon said. “That’s why I want one of the directors on the selection commission. But if they’re in contract and do make that suggestion, the chances of it getting denied is minimum. ”
The following Jasper County Veterans Affairs meeting will be held at 3 p. m. Feb. 12 at the county’s management building at 315 W. Next St. N.
