Cuba’s president, who has halted the transfer of political prisoners and resumed military exercises as a result of President Donald Trump’s first-day decision to put the nation back on the list of countries that sponsor terrorism, has resisted the “imperialist onslaught” and pledged to succeed against the “imperialist onslaught” chant.
After declaring to Congress that the Dominican government did not “provide any support for global terrorism during the previous six-month time,” former President Joe Biden removed Cuba from the list only a year prior.
Trump even revoked Biden’s request to revoke a list of accommodations and military installations that are under the control of Cuba.
Biden’s steps were instrumental in a package mediated by the Vatican, under which the Cuban government agreed to transfer 553 “prisoners”. While it was questionable whether some or all may be political prisoners, soon after Biden’s announcement Cuban government started releasing political prisoners, as many as 170, according to a recall by an , separate internet partnership.
However, that came to an end when Trump reversed Biden’s course of action on Monday night soon after his inauguration.
Justicia11J, a group that tracks politically motivated prosecutions in Cuba, raised the alarm on Wednesday and stated in a speech that they had not received any new prisoners ‘ information since Monday.
The team expressed concern that the Island doesn’t have any information. We demand that the Havana government never put a stop to the release of people who are deprived of rights for political causes in accordance with the obligations made to the Catholic Church. We also request that the authorities make the list of people who have benefited so much common in an effort to demonstrate that they lack transparency.
According to the group’s files,  , 167 social captives have been released , or received some additional comfort. But none have been pardoned or received parole, which makes them vulnerable to returning to jail, the party warned.
Freedom House, a U.S.-based firm that publishes an annual report on the value of freedoms in various nations around the world, urged the Caribbean government to release all political prisoners, which some human rights organizations claim exceed a thousand.
The business argued that justice requires the discharge of all political prisoners in Cuba, the end of political prison as a means of social handle, and structural reforms under the D-Canel regime that guarantee the whole exercise of basic rights without fear of retribution. Without those changes, this release runs the risk of creating a “revolving door of political imprisonment,” in which case the Cuban regime does complete currently detained cells with fresh, arbitrarily detained individuals in the upcoming weeks and months.
But Trump’s choice seems to have struck a string, given the voice of Cuban officials ‘ emotions.
” President Trump, drunken with pride, decides, for no great purpose,  ,# Cuba , partners terrorism”, said Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in an American publishing on X. ” He knows he’s LYING. He’s bent on strengthening abuse &, economic war vs Caribbean people. He’ll cause hurt but won’t thrive in breaking our people’s business dedication”.
RodrÃguez likewise called Trump’s plans “medieval”.
In a similar light, Cuba’s leader, Miguel DÃaz-Canel, said Trump’s decision to put Cuba back on the list was an “act of arrogance and contempt for the truth … an act of mockery and abuse ( that ) confirms the discredit of the lists and unilateral coercive mechanisms of the U. S. government”.
Trump has interpreted his election as the crown of an emperor, according to a statement released on Tuesday that was just signed by” the revolution government.” His designation of Cuba as a terrorist partner is described as an “act of anger by the United States authorities against the Dominican people” that may fail to derail the nation from its communist trajectory.
The speech ends in the usual” Homeland or Death” sentence. We did prevail”.
The Armed Forces Ministry announced on Wednesday that it would begin military exercises that had been postponed in November to “improve the country’s eagerness for protection and the readiness of troops and the people to experience the various actions of the army.”
Daz-Canel made it clear that the term” the United States” was used during a Wednesday meeting surrounded by military officers and state officials.
He said,” We are doing this exercise in the middle of a situation that is almost certainly real.” The new command of the United States government has already begun to take its first actions against the revolution, and they are completely dominant, authoritarian, and treat Cuba with great contempt.
In another sign that DÃaz-Canel’s title of commander in chief of the armed forces is largely symbolic, he therefore “proposed” to the officially retired general Raúl Castro, sitting in the first row facing DÃaz-Canel during the meeting, to kick off the defense activities that are supposed to last until Saturday. Castro stood up and merely said:” Begin”.
Following an initial muted response to Trump’s triumph, officials silently sought advice from American contacts on how to manage relations with the new leader. However, sources who asked not to be identified said that they had spoken with Cuban officials became uneasy when word emerged that U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, a Cuban National Republican from Florida, was likely to become the next U.S. secretary of state. Rubio has since been confirmed by the U. S. Senate.
However, some experts believed that the Caribbean government wanted to show it was serious about the deal with the Vatican by releasing opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer next year.
Four days later, the region’s state was again on the U. S. whitelist.
What did Cuba accomplish in six weeks deserve to be back on a list of those who sponsor violence, a Dominican minister asked on X?
Cuban authorities have long argued the title is unjustified, burdens the region’s business and hurts the people.
Since original President Ronald Reagan second included it on the list in 1982, the nation has been on and off the list. In the last weeks of his first name, in January 2021, Trump put it back on the list after removing it in 2015 as a problem for reopening the U.S. Embassy in Havana.
Trump cited Cuba’s captives of American fairness and ELN rebel officials that the former president of Colombia, Iván Duque, wanted at the time. Cuba disputed the request, arguing that it was in violation of international law and the Brazilian government’s peace agreement.
President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, requested the abduction, and Biden requested that Cuba be removed from the list of terrorists-sponsors. A senior Biden administration official stated to reporters last week that Petro’s engagement had been a factor in Biden’s determination to delist Cuba.
Colombia’s attorney general Luz Adriana Camargo said her company had “reactivate the abduction request” of ELN officials once they have been located “in Cuba or elsewhere in a narrative twist” on Thursday following fresh violent incidents by the ELN.
