Chicago&nbsp, Public Schools leaders claimed Friday that federal officials from&nbsp, U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement&nbsp, showed up at an intermediate class in the city’s South Side but were blocked by employees from entering.

The bill, which triggered warnings and reports of parents and grandparents pulling their&nbsp, children from college, was immediately challenged by ICE official David Yost, who&nbsp, denied&nbsp, the incident actually took place. Rather, it turns out, it was the&nbsp, U. S. Secret Service that had dispatched officials to the school while conducting a “protective knowledge analysis”.

According to a Secret Service spokesman, the organization was “investigating a threat to one of our protectees in light of the most current TikTok ban.”

” That investigation led to a house next to the school”, Anthony Guglielmi told NBC Chicago. ” Then before, they went to the school as part of the research. &nbsp, They identified themselves as Secret Service and left business cards” .&nbsp,

Alex Pfeiffer, assistant aide to President Donald Trump and principal deputy communications director, called out some Chicago-based sources for “fake information”.

Guglielmi’s accounts differed from what Chicago school officials told families, staff, students, and the media following the incident. &nbsp, They claimed immigration officials attempted to enter&nbsp, Hamline Elementary School but were denied access. &nbsp,

In a media conference on Friday evening, CPS Chief Education Officer Bogdana Chkoumbova stated that “school workers followed CPS established methods.” They contacted the CPS Office of Safety and Security and the CPS Law Department for advice, and they kept ICE officials away from the classroom. No students or workers members could communicate to the ICE agents inside the school.

Additionally, Hamline Principal Natasha Ortega confirmed that there were ICE agents and that the university did not cooperate with the immigration authorities.

We won’t let ICE enter our homes, and we’re here to protect our kids and ensure that they get an exceptional learning, according to Ortega. &nbsp,

Fanny Diego Alvarez, commander of family and community proposal for the city, maintained the” ICE agents&nbsp, said they were]Department of Homeland Security]. ” &nbsp,

The turbulent tragedy comes in the wake of the Trump administration’s announcement on Tuesday that it would help federal immigration authorities to make detention at schools, churches, and institutions, reversing a legislation that had been in effect for 14 years. &nbsp,

According to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security,” criminals will no longer be able to hide in America’s schools and churches to avoid being detained.” &nbsp,

According to the Migration&nbsp, Policy Institute, there are an estimated 733, 000 school-aged children in the U. S. illegally. &nbsp,

Schools would not aid ICE in enforcing immigration law, according to a resolution passed by the CPS Board of Education in November.

District CEO Pedro Martinez stated,” We’re making it clear that we’re not going to interact with ICE.” &nbsp,

He told the&nbsp, Associated Press&nbsp, that he anticipated little fallout from a new&nbsp, Justice Department directive to investigate&nbsp, state or local officials blocking the federal crackdown on immigration. &nbsp,

He added that any federal agents who showed up at any of Chicago’s 633 public schools would be required to provide a valid court order, and that even then, they would need to go through my legal department. ” &nbsp,

Martinez maintained Friday evening that&nbsp, the&nbsp, agents who came&nbsp, to Hamline” showed credentials to my staff” that indicated they were ICE.
