What researchers find endearing, social editors find troublesome.
For example, researchers love to tell the strange little quirks of history:” Did you know that Ben Franklin wrote an essay about farting“? ” Abraham Lincoln was a hero wrestler”! ( At least, when he wasn’t killing vampires. )

It’s these specific tales and entertaining odds-and-ends that give story its hue — and humanizes its artists. Turns over, if good’ Ben were alive now, he’d probably been on apps, cracking fart jokes. ( Not to pick on Ben: Fart jokes have been around for at least 4, 000 years. )
But at the time, the democratic journalists were perhaps annoyed:” I became a journalist to include serious, crucial issues, and then I have to write about flatulence. Ugh. But insulting”!
Which is why I sort of comprehend why so many well-known media outlets were anxious to protect Hunter Biden’s laptop. Appear, I get it: The child is a disaster. He’s an addiction, and it’s not his sin that his father is president.  , Of all the problems facing the world, the sexual, drugs, and acts of a wealthy knucklehead isn’t high on the list.
And I also understand their incredulousness over the computer’s causes. The whole history was noisy, strange, and net.
But y’know what? Often, but is past.
And often, the effects of literary errors are continuous. According to a 2022 surveys, 79 % of Americans believe Donald Trump would’ve won election if voters knew the truth about Hunter Biden’s laptop.
This brings us to a captivating narrative that appeared in s://www.mediaite.com/” target=”_blank”>Mediaite yesterday evening. The name reveals the controversy:” ‘ Don’t Write About the Laptop, Don’t Talk About the Laptop’: Win Writers Claim Politico Killed Negative Biden Stories“.

A pair of ex-Politico reporters, Marc Caputo ( now with Axios ) and Tara Palmeri ( now with Puck, as well as her own podcast,” Somebody’s Gotta Win” ) recounted the many instances where Politico killed, buried, or “resisted negative stories” about Hunter Biden and his father, President Joe Biden.
Here’s what they said:
Marc Caputo:” Politico did that awful, ill-fated article: 51 intelligence agencies, or previous intelligence agents, say that the Hunter Biden laptop was deception, or bore the hallmarks of deception. Turns out the Hunter Biden computer appeared to be true, which made that narrative more false.
Tara Palmeri:” But then Facebook also pulled all tales down about the Hunter Biden laptop, and I think Twitter did at the same time, too” . ,
Marc Caputo:” Accurate, they punished The New York Post, that didn’t help. I mean, Politico, my former boss and I knew at the time, didn’t accomplish itself any benefits. I was covering Biden at the time, and I remember coming to my writer and saying,’ Hey, we need to read about the Hunter Biden notebook.’ And I was told this came from on large at Politico: Don’t read about the computer, don’t talk about the computer, don’t post about the computer. And the only point Politico wound up composing was that part that called it deception, which sympathetically may be called propaganda, at the least”.
Tara Palmeri:” Yeah, I mean, I had a hard time — you know I wrote some pretty serious reporting on Hunter Biden, which actually ended up getting him prosecuted — the story on the gun” . ,
Marc Caputo:” Yeah! And I recall that you consulted with me “because you had, you did the original statement on the gun,” and you said to me,” How do I read about this?” I’m like,’ Actually, I don’t realize.'”
Tara Palmeri:“‘ Reason it was hard to get it done. I spent three months on it, I went to the computer store, and I did all of the investigating in Delaware, and I did all of that. But yeah, it had, it had to be, like many — it had to be 100 % nailed over. I had all — you know, the officers information, every, like, you know, I’m a strong writer. But I wonder if it could have, if it had been published a little bit sooner if the tale had been one of a unique kind. It was the end of his presidency, it was a wedding interval— you know what I mean”?
Marc Caputo:” Since we’re spilling drink about our past company, I also have a copy of the story on my external hard drive. A rival political Democratic candidate’s candidate’s Joe Biden’s gave to me the tax liability — the ace research — the tax liability on Hunter Biden for the day he worked at Burisma in 2019. And I wrote what would have been a classic line-up:” The former vice president’s son was slapped with a big tax lien for the period of time that he worked for this contentious Ukrainian oil concern, or natural gas concern, which is bothering his father on the campaign trail.” The editors killed that story, and they also failed to provide an explanation for why. So that general experience, you know, obviously the public doesn’t know about those things, but as a reporter having witnessed the way in which the two candidates—”
Tara Palmeri:” We just get called, like,’ the terrible mainstream media.’ It’s like you don’t understand the process there” . ,
Marc Caputo:” Well, you also don’t understand the dumb decisions of cowardly editors that are made above us” . ,

As Mediaite noted, Hunter Biden was convicted of three felonies related to Palmeri’s story. Before receiving his controversial presidential pardon, Hunter Biden later admitted guilt to three additional felonies and six misdemeanor tax offenses.

Politico, like many other mainstream media outlets, published a story dismissing The New York Post’s laptop story as” Russian disinformation” and “election interference”.
Politico responded to the Mediaite story in this manner:
Seems like a case of false memory, given that across the years they referenced, POLITICO journalists lead the way on wide-ranging reporting on the business dealings of Joe Biden’s closest relatives. Ben Schreckinger, who was probably the best reporter in the nation covering these issues, literally wrote the book about it.
Through deeply reported coverage—both pre- and post-election—POLITICO provided readers with a nuanced understanding of the dealings of James Biden, Hunter Biden, and other relatives of the president, along with the ethical questions they raised. Notably, POLITICO was the first to confirm that Hunter Biden’s laptop contained authentic documents and that it had been notified of the shooting that led to his conviction, as evidenced by the stories below.
And to Tara’s point, yes, our editors uphold rigorous standards, ensuring every story is thoroughly vetted and ‘ buttoned up ‘ before publishing. Our unwavering commitment to accuracy and accountability is reflected in this approach, which has and will continue to be so.
