Popular support has been reported on social media platforms for a solution by Republican Andy Ogles to amend the constitution to allow US President Donald Trump or any other potential president to be elected to a third name.
Social media users expressed their opinions on the quality, some actually making up predictions that Obama would oppose Trump, and how it would be if it were to become reality.
When they recalled all the winners from the 75th Hunger Games, a customer said that Obama and Trump’s next term would be like.
If approved, Donald Trump’s plan would allow him to serve in office until 2033, when he would be 86 years old. He defended the suggestion by claiming that Trump deserves to provide an additional phrase to supply” the bold management our nation so desperately needs.”
The proposal does, however, mention that the president can only serve for a second term if he has previously served two non-consecutive terms, making former President Barack Obama unsuitable for another term.
No person shall be elected to the presidency more than three times, nor may they be elected to any further term after serving two terms in a row, and no one who has served or served as president for more than two years may be elected to the presidency more than half, according to the proposal.
While this proposed amendment to the 22nd Amendment is facing major difficulties, which call for the approval and acceptance of at least 38 states.
Now, the 22nd Amendment restricts president to two words. Trump’s first word ran out in 2021, replacing him with a new one. Following his triumph over Kamala Harris in November 2024, Grover Cleveland became the next president to safe non-consecutive words, making him the 78th leader.
The decision comes shortly after Trump took the oath of office for a minute, non-consecutive term, making him only the second US leader to achieve this feat. Additionally, it comes in line with a solution that was introduced two months ago by New York Democrat Rep. Dan Goldman, which stated that the 22nd Amendment applies to both the 78-year-old Trump and two words in total as President of the United States.
Moreover, Trump has consistently hinted at his willingness to serve more than two terms in office. In November, he apparently mused to House Republicans,” I suspect I won’t be running once, unless you say,’ He’s but great we’ve got to figure something else out.'” In May, he had said,” I don’t know, are we going to be considered three-term or two-term? Are we three-term or two-term if we win”?
