In stark contrast to the obstinate opposition of his first name, some Democrats have embraced his thoughts more since his success in the post-election.
Democrats have significantly shifted their support for immigration plans, which were unhappy during the Biden administration. Views on the matter shifted upward over the past eight times, and some Democrats are then leaning toward Trump’s anti-immigration speech, and support for deporting illegal immigrants.
The Laken Riley Act, which may involve national authorities to prosecute illegal immigrants arrested, charged, or convicted of theft-related and violent acts until they are deported, is one such example. Laken Riley herself, a pupil murdered by an improper refugee, was a constant focus of the Trump campaign.
THE QUESTIONS AND Options WITH TRUMP’S MASS DEPORTATION PLAN
The Act passed the Senate this month with 12 Democrats voting in favor of it after losing almost all of their help next year. In the House, 48 Liberals voted in favor.
In one of the most egregious examples, 13 Democratic senators wrote to Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD ) to say they wanted to work with Republicans on immigration reform, including freshman senators. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI ) and Ruben Gallego (D-AZ ).
” There is a lot of common ground on which we can began.” We see a need for solid, sensible, and fair immigration protection accompanied by the essential tools to properly secure our frontiers”, the letter read.
” We stand prepared to work with you”, they wrote.
The shift isn’t limited to more centrist-inclined Democrats in Congress both. Gov. One of the most contentious moves by Trump was supported by ICE raids in her state, according to Maura Healey (D-MA ), governor of one of the state’s bluest governors.
” I wouldn’t identify them as attacks. What it seems to be is what we expected and what I support, which is the fear of thieves in our areas”, Healey told investigators.
Certainly all Democrat officials are so helpful to ICE brokers coming into deep blue locations, including Denver, Colorado. According to Mayor Mike Johnston, the city does not aid or assist ICE officials when and if they arrive in Denver, and the Denver Police Department has policies in place that prohibit police officials from questioning witnesses or victims of crimes about their immigration status.  ,
However, the shift goes beyond immigration. The avowedly progressive Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA ), signaled in December that he was looking to work together with Trump’s Elon Musk-run Department of Government Efficiency.
The best return on investment is what American taxpayers want and deserve. Put politics aside, collaborate with DOGE to reduce unnecessary defense spending. And let’s invest instead in domestic manufacturing, good-paying jobs and a modern national security strategy”, Khanna wrote.
Some Democrats even find common ground with Trump regarding disaster response. Rep. Ami Bera (D-CA ) concurred partially with Trump’s contentious attack on the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

In a Friday interview with NewsNation’s the Hill, Bera stated,” On the premise that emergencies are best handled at the local level, state level, because they know I can get behind 100 % that the community is the best that you know to get behind.”  ,
” Obviously, we’ll need some federal help with big disasters — North Carolina. We need to help. How do you get those resources more quickly to the governor, to the counties and local governors, governments? I’m open to that conversation. We should figure this out, because we’re also seeing bigger disasters”, he added.
