‘ Language from]Trump’s ] president flows down, gives permission to love’
A Chinese-American doctor at Ohio State University claims in an article that he was the victim of three racist incidents over the past four or five years and that Donald Trump and his brother Ohioans are to blame for them.
Joe Tien says that on January 6 he was” confronted ]… ] with malice” by a “middle-aged white man” who had asked” Where you from, buddy”?
Tan, taken away, alleged the person” stepped out of his approach to present his problem”, one” that Asians and Asian Americans hear far too often”.
” I’m from here] Ohio]. Where you from”? Tien ( pictured ) replied.
The gentleman walked away, Tien , says, but turned round to abject” No manner. Get out of my state”.
The mathematics professor was in the mood for a 2020 work when this happened. He claims he was confronted by” a vehicle of youthful college-aged white people” yelling” Corona! Corona”! ( presumably referencing the virus, not the beer ).
When he was walking his son to school, a young black kid rolled down the window of a school bus and yelled mock Foreign at them, it’s unclear whether it actually happened or if it’s a speculative.
In each of the ( alleged ) incidents, Tien pondered physical action.
” What I really had done was run in front of the vehicle, stopped it, no matter the picture or backed-up traffic and screaming ears”, he writes of the dark boy. ” I may have talked to the bus pilot”.
After being yelled at during his run five years ago, Tien says” I shook my fist and accelerated, but the vehicle was gone”.

And after the man asked him where he “was from”, he says” I am 5’7″, 140 weight, bespectacled and no fighter, but observe tackling him, anyway”.
As noted, the most recent tragedy happened on January 6, a “fraught time” according to Tien. And” the next day Trump was in the Oval Office, white nationalists marched with lights in Charlottesville, the Muslim restrictions was enacted and anti-Asian American love spiked. The vocabulary used during his presidency allows for hate.
What’s more, he says the event” says a ton about Ohio”.
Since this seems a bit of a … convenient set up for his narrative, not to mention the dialogue ( a white guy comes out of nowhere, asks Tien where “he’s from”, then walks away saying” No way. Get out of my state”? via message to the doctor, I sent her a few questions.
Why didn’t he at least take a picture of this racist troglodyte after his first inquiry, given that it’s 2025 and everyone has a cellphone at the ready?
Also, how does this face” say a bit” about Ohio? ( Imagine if a white professor said that a white professor’s assertion that Asians are subject to Chinese spies” says a lot” about them in higher education. )
Tien did not respond.
If he didn’t create phony claims like” Muslim restrictions,” and that Trump is” a gentleman who denigrates refugees at every change,” I’d definitely be inclined to take his storied at face value. Not to mention Ohio’s largely Republican state authorities.
It is entirely clear that anyone else is to blame for the acts that were actually committed by the idiots who ( allegedly ) committed them comes straight from critical theory. ” Administrative racism”, etc. etc. etc. Which in Tien’s event is a bit crazy as he’s a math teacher.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised, but, if he hasn’t been required to sit through many school staff anti-racism/diversity courses.
