The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles played two games last season. Dallas scored a combined total of 13 items, Philly 75. Dallas lost both activities.
Getting a new head coach, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones interviewed both groups ‘ unpleasant organizers. The one in Philadelphia is in his mid-thirties and is receiving offers for mind training. ( He is now putting together his game strategy for tomorrow’s NFC Championship Game. ) The brain coach in Dallas is in his 50s, has never been in charge of a head coaching position, and hasn’t had a job interview in over ten years.

Obviously, Jerry Jones chose the one who scored 13 items.  ,
The eighth — and newest — head coach in the history of the Dallas Cowboys is nothing other than… Brian Schottenheimer.
” Brian Schottenheimer is known as a profession assistant”, Jones crowed next day, making the getting established. ” He ain’t Brian no more. He is currently the Dallas Cowboys ‘ head coach.
As with all things Dallas Cowboys, Jones ‘ phrase made no sense: in the NFL, head coaches still retain their unique first name. ( It’s not like becoming the pope. ) Second, the entire process that produced this conclusion was a level of incompetence ( with a senility component ) exercise.
Next month, Brian Schottenheimer was the Cowboys ‘ offensive coordinator. Mike McCarthy, who had previously won a Super Bowl ( and 100+ games ) with the Packers was the head coach. McCarthy had just put together three consecutive 12-win times, but hadn’t advanced far in the finals.
After the 2023 season ended with a crushing postseason lost to McCarthy’s old Green Bay group, Jerry Jones stood at the crossroads. He made the final decision.
In an opposite timeframe, Jones acted bravely, firing McCarthy after the Green Bay lost, and hiring one of the exceptional coaches that were then accessible: Sean Payton, Jim Harbough, or Dan Quinn. Jones could’ve said,” We’re going all in”! and signed a number of free officials, including running back Derrick Henry, who boldly fought for cowboys, giving a wonderful head manager a chance to finally lift his staff out of the funk. It would’ve been a bold, aggressive ( and expensive ) move.

But Jones didn’t do any of that.  ,
Otherwise, he kept all his tutors, waiting until their arrangements elapsed in Jan. 2025. He even waited until the 11th hour to re-sign his aging, oft-injured player, excessively tying up his salary cover. And he attempted to lowball Mike McCarthy on a new contract after the team’s final year ended with the crew losing more games than they won.
McCarthy declined and walked.
Instantly, the Dallas Cowboys — formerly” America’s Team” and still the most valuable brand in professional sports — was scrambling. ( But not scrambling like a young Lamar Jackson, more like a late-era Dan Marino. ) Aside from the immediate aftermath, this created a flurry of anticipation and trust: Could the day be saved by a new head coach?
Every NFC squad has appeared in at least one NFC Championship Game since 2011. Every group except one: 1996 was the last year the Cowboys made it.
Amazingly, Jerry Jones was able to keep the presence and success of the Dallas Cowboys product throughout the last 30 times of problems, embarrassments, and disappointments. Even though the squad always played in the large game, there was always enough excitement — Big-name giants! Palace suspense! Wonderful storylines! — to offer hope to the popularity.
For 29 much years — which, ironically, is also the length of the Cowboys ‘ NFC Championship rainfall — Tom Landry was the group’s only head coach. With his philosophical tone, brand hat, and continuous success, he defined the Cowboys company for generations. Therefore, for a good five times, Jimmy Johnson was the show’s head manager. The Cowboys ‘ tale grew even bigger as they won three Super Bowls in four decades, creating a brand new. They were the staff of the 1990s.

However, 1996 saw the end of the final trip.  ,
For almost 30 years, the Cowboys company has been coasting on historical memories, administrative momentum, and people goodwill.
Nothing lasts long. Not even the Cowboys ‘ product.
Jerry Jones may convert 83 next season. Next day, he hired a head coach that nobody else valued enough yet to audition. What was once the most-desired head coaching career in American sports couldn’t even get top-tier candidates.  ,

The Dallas fan base today realizes Jerry Jones would rather lose than succeed in doing it for anyone else. And so do the coaches and players.  ,
It’s a villain present.
Just a few short years ago, if you called a business or an organization the” Dallas Cowboys of its industry”, you’d picture a brand that was the most common, effective, and most obvious. Back then, that’s what the Dallas Cowboys brand conveyed. It was considered a compliment!  ,
Now?
If you called the Democratic Party the” Dallas Cowboys of politics”, it would mean something entirely different. You’d go,” Oh, they’re past-their-prime losers who can’t adapt to modern times, and are so damn arrogant, they don’t care what anyone else thinks”.
The traditional Dallas Cowboys logo is no longer relevant. And it’s not coming back until the Jerry Jones era is, at long last, finally over.
