Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX ) praised the shift in the country placing its border security, adding that Texas is proud to “partner” with President Donald Trump‘s efforts in this area.
” The change, Maria, is this: we instantly now have a commander in chief who cares about national security, who cares about securing the border, who’s going to enforce the law, and, important, he has a government and a position in Texas that will be a spouse with the Trump management”, Abbott stated. ” We will help in the imprisonment, the confinement, and the imprisonment of people coming across the border improperly”.
The Texas government noted how thousands of illegal immigrants, and even almost a thousand, are being deported from the U. S. “on a daily basis” to their home states, with the Trump presidency “demanding conformity” from other countries to take up people who illegally crossed the U. S. borders.  ,
President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, attempted to stop planes that brought illegal immigrants from the United States, prompting Trump to impose 25 % tariffs on all goods entering the country as well as a travel ban on Colombian government officials. Petro has since resisted and has also sent his presidential plane to help with the deportations.

Abbott has also stressed a need for Trump to “go after” gangs of illegal immigrants, like the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, and “put them out of business”, which he equated to the arrest of these gangs.
Abbott sent letters to senior government officials asking for reimbursement for the more than$ 11 billion that Texas spent on its 2021-year-old border security initiative Operation Lone Star after former Biden was accused of “refusing to enforce federal immigration law and pursuing reckless open-border policies” The governor and the Biden administration frequently engaged in legal battles over the state’s position on border security.
