Tom Homan, the border czar for US President Donald Trump, has mentioned ability ICE ( Immigration and Customs Enforcement ) activities at educational institutions, raising concerns for educators across the country.
Homan, who has served as the acting director of ICE during Trump’s prior administration, defended the possibility of conducting activities in universities, citing the presence of youth group affiliates.
” How several MS-13 people are at the age 14 to 17? Some of them” ,he said while discussing the Los Angeles-originated criminal company.
He questioned the remarkable characteristics of restrictions placed on ICE, stating,” Brand another company, another law enforcement agency]that ] has those kinds of needs, that they can’t move into a school or doctor’s office or a health school. No other companies have these requirements”.
” These are well-trained soldiers, we’re allowed judgment, and when it comes to a sense of place, there’s also going to be supervised assessment. Therefore, it’s not like it’s an open question, but he continued, “ICE officers should have the discretion to decide whether a national security threat or a public health risk exists in one of these facilities, and it should be an option to make the arrest.”
” ]If ] you’re in the country illegally, you’re on the table because it’s not okay to violate laws in this country”, he stated. ” That’s why I’m hoping those who are in the country illegally and haven’t been ordered to leave,” he continued.
During Trump’s prior management, Homan’s stance on immigration was somewhat serious, as he justified the isolation of thousands of children from their parents, claiming it was necessary for” saving life”.
