Congressman , August Pfluger , ( TX-11 ) and Congressman , Jimmy Panetta , ( CA-19 ) reintroduced the bipartisan, bicameral Aviator Cancers Examination Study (ACES ) Act. If passed, this bill would guide the Secretary of the , VA , to examine cancer incidences and mortality rates among pilots and crew who served in the Navy,  , Air Force, and , Marine Corps.
This policy is crucial because it would help us better understand how former aviators can reduce their risk of cancer in the military. We can better help our military and provide more adequate attention to our veterans by better understanding the relationship between pilot service and cancer, according to a news release.
Senator , Tom Cotton , (R-AK) and Senator , Mark Kelly , (D-AZ), both soldiers and people of the , Senate Armed Services Committee, championed the , Senate , version of the bill next session and will do so again this , Congress.
” As a former fighter aircraft, I am aware of the dangers soldiers and people encounter daily in the aircraft. Airmen and people deserve claims that their wellbeing will be cared for after putting their lives on the line for their country, according to Congressman Pfluger. The nonpartisan ACES Act will make sure that the VA  takes the necessary steps to fully understand any connections between aircraft and cancer incidences in order to adequately care for and treat our service members.
” We have a duty to fully realize the health challenges facing our pilots in defence of our society”, said , Congressman Panetta. As we continue our efforts to improve the attention of our servicemembers and soldiers, I’m delighted to co-lead this bipartisan legislation to make sure that we fully understand the full range of service-linked tumor symptoms among our pilots and women. This study is crucial for providing our military and former health care providers with the essential knowledge they need to provide the top-notch care our aviators and aircraft so rightly deserve for their service to our country.
” We owe it to veterans from the past, present, and future who served in the armed forces to study the occurrence of cancer in this team.” Our policy contains the essential commitments to keep our men and women in standard even long after their active duty ends, according to Senator Cotton.
” As a former Navy pilot, I understand the sacrifices pilots make every time, but the fact is we need to improve our understanding on some of the unknown threats facing aircrews”, said , Senator Kelly. This bipartisan bill will increase our knowledge to better understand this horrible disease affecting veterans and highlight the issues that need to be fixed to help lessen the impact on existing service members.
The bill is co-sponsored in the House by Representatives , Rob Wittman , (VA-7 ),  , Jake Ellzey , ( TX-06 ),  , Seth Moulton , ( MA-6 ),  , Daniel Webster , ( FL-11 ),  , Pat Ryan , ( NY-18 ),  , Beth Van Duyne , ( TX-24 ),  , Don Davis , (NC-01 ),  , David Valadao , ( CA-22 ),  , Marianette Miller-Meeks  , ( IA-01 ),  , Susie Lee , ( NV-03 ),  , Mike Simpson , ( ID-02 ), and , Scott Franklin , ( FL-18 ).
