Hamas and the Palestinian militant group Hamas criticized US President Donald Trump’s suggestion that the war-torn region should be” merely cleaned out” to create a “virtual clean stone.”
Mahmud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinians, criticized the proposed project and claimed that the Palestinians” will never leave their land and sacred sites.”
Palestinians “foil for projects,” as they have done with similar plans for movement and other homelands over the years,” according to Bassem Naim, a associate of Hamas’s social bureau, according to AFP’s Bassem Naim.
Trump stated the evening prior that he had discussed the possibility of moving more than one million Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries with King Abdullah II of Jordan.
” I said to him that I’d like you to take on more, because I’m looking at the whole Gaza Strip correctly then and it’s a disaster, it’s a real clutter”, Trump said.
Trump expressed interest in accommodating displaced persons from the war-torn place in both Jordan and Egypt. He mentioned ideas to speak with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi about this subject.
“You’re talking about a million and a half individuals, and we just clean out that entire thing”, Trump said, adding that there have been centuries-long problems in the region.
” I don’t recognize, something has to happen, but it’s actually a dismantling page right now. I’d rather get involved with some of the Muslim countries and build housing there where I think they could perhaps live peacefully for a change, he said. About everything has been destroyed and people are dying it.
However, the Arab League rejected the idea, warning against “attempts to remove the Arab citizens from their area”.
The group claimed in a declaration that” the forced displacement and evacuation of people from their property can only be considered cultural cleansing.”
Ayman Safadi, the foreign secretary of Jordan, stated that “our position is unwavering and will not change.” Jordan is for Jordanians and Palestine is for Palestinians”.
Egypt’s unusual government added that it rejects any violations of Palestinians ‘ “inalienable right.”
