The American surroundings has long been covered in independence activities. Although the Confederacy was the only independence movements to gain any momentum, the majority of these movements were at best wacky and absurd at worst.

There’s a new independence work on the horizon, and just like the Confederates of the mid-19th era, Liberals are behind it. According to Newsweek, the secretary of state of California has approved a independence movement to obtain signatures for a petition to throw California’s separation from the United States on the 2028 ballot.
The explanation for this action is precisely as you would anticipate.
” Calexit, a party that strategies for American democracy, described Trump’s national election win in November as ‘ an assault on all California cares about’ and argued that it strengthened the country’s event for secession”, writes Newsweek’s James Bickerton.
The report describes the organizational framework for the complaint:
On Thursday, Weber announced that the independence petition initiative, which]Marcus ] Evans launched from Fresno, could begin collecting signatures.
To have an independence voting included on California’s 2028 election ballot, politicians may obtain 546, 651 signatures—constituting 5 percent of the total vote cast for Governor Gavin Newsom in November 2022—and send them to state elections officials by July 22, 2025.
If California leave the United States and establish itself as a free and independent nation, as the campaign asks?
If at least 50 % of registered Californian voters cast their ballots, and at least 55 % of voters vote “yes,” that would be considered a “vote of no confidence in the United States of America” and an “expression of the people’s will” to become an independent state, according to the campaign.

On November 6th, Calexit posted on its site:” Californians did not put their whole faith and trust behind the Seceding choice in 2016.” Trump is again in 2024, and he will arrive with even more tools, talent, and supporters than he did before. Do we need to know that this is the country’s course of action when we cross its borders in 2028? ]sic ]”

The Calexit action may be just as foolish as the other actions that have dotted the history of America, which is the most obvious issue with this ability ballot question. According to the Constitution, California may not even be able to separate from the federation.
” The U. S. Constitution does not include a method for state secession”, Bickerton writes. ” In 1869, following the Civil War, the Supreme Court ruled that the work of admitting a express into the Union was last, with’ no area for revision, or revocation except through trend, or through consent of the states.'”
There’s a part of me that wants to say,” Let them try it”. California may be the fifth-largest economy in the world, but its commitment to awakening and extreme environmentalism isn’t helping its long-term economic outlook in any way. Californians are leaving the state in droves, which doesn’t bode well. Los Angeles and San Diego’s fires were the result of the state’s response as an independent nation.

We have a long time to wait for this initiative, if it even makes the ballot. Before the measure is presented to voters, the Calexit supporters will need to sign it up by Election Day 2028. That’s a long time for Californians to benefit from Trump’s policies and get them out of their willful blindness.
Modern secession movements are frivolous. There is no guarantee that Calexit will pass if it has enough momentum, and even if it does, the state may not be able to carry it out under the terms of the constitution. But let these lefties run their mouths and waste their time, cash, and effort.
