Goma, a besieged Congolese city, was hit by heavy artillery fire on Monday as France warned the area’s provincial capital was about to fall to military soldiers and Congolese soldiers.
After days of fighting in the main town in the mineral-rich North Kivu territory, the M23 armed group and French soldiers finally entered Goma’s center on Sunday night.
Jean-Noel Barrot, the French foreign minister, said Goma’s support for the Rwanda-backed unpleasant “must stop,” calling on his country to show its support for the Democratic Republic of Congo as it prepares to fall.
Kenya announced on Sunday that Rwandan President Paul Kagame and Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi had agreed to attend a conference in the next two weeks as international pressure mounts for a resolution to end the conflict in Goma.
M23 soldiers and 3, 000 to 4, 000 African troops had been laying siege to Goma for several weeks, according to the United Nations and safety resources.
The unpleasant appears to have overthrown the African armed forces, and Uruguay’s army claimed in a speech that some models had begun to retreat by handing their arms to UN peacekeepers in Goma.
On Monday morning, loud gunfire and explosions were audible in northern Goma, according to AFP journalists.
A surveillance source told AFP, “deaths” were the result of a large prison break from a torched prison, without providing additional information.

Later on Sunday, the UN Security Council called for the removal of “external forces,” but it made no effort to name them in a statement.
Between 500 and 1, 000 Congolese men arrived on Sunday to strengthen the M23 near Goma, UN solutions told AFP.
Thirteen unusual soldiers have been killed in the rising hostilities, and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday demanded that Kigali appoint a new armed force to leave the country.
Rwanda has rejected calls for a removal.
” This fighting close to the Rwandan border continues to provide a serious threat to Rwanda’s surveillance and territorial integrity, and necessitates Rwanda’s sustained protective posture”, Rwanda’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
Later on Sunday, Kenyan President William Ruto made the announcement to hold a conference of the East African Community regional alliance with Rwanda’s and the DRC’s leaders for discussions of the problems.
Officials withdrawn
In a collapse of relations, both the DRC and Rwanda have withdrawn their officials from one another’s capital.
After peace deals between Kagame and Tshisekedi were cancelled in mid-December, the M23 immediately advanced towards Goma.
More than a million people live in the proper town, and almost as many are displaced.
New groups of displaced people started arriving in the area as the struggling got worse.
According to a statement from the UN experts, Kigali was exporting the material prosperity of the DRC to profit from exporting it worldwide.
The Security Council should place a” overall embargo on the trade of all metals labelled Rwandan, especially gold,” according to Kinshasa’s Kayikwamba.
Rwanda’s adviser to the UN, Ernest Rwamucyo, rejected DRC’s charges, blaming Kinshasa for the deteriorating position.
Goma was momentarily occupied at the end of 2012 by the M23, or March 23 Movement, but the party withdrew after a bargain.
It was physically defeated in 2013 by DRC troops and the UN, but it eventually regrouped.
In the region, half a dozen settlements and ceasefires have already been established and broken. At the end of July, the final peace was agreed.
The United States, France, the UK and Germany have called on their members to keep Goma.
