Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have deployed weapons with artificial intelligence technology during military exercises in the Gulf, according to state media reports from Monday.
The Guards ‘ naval power “fired Ghaem and Almas weapons equipped with unnatural intelligence from innovative Mohajer-6 and Ababil-5 uavs”, the IRNA state news agency said.
The drills” effectively destroyed speculative enemy targets,” according to the report.
Both Ghaem and Almas are precision-guided missiles that the Persian defense ministry has developed internally.
On Friday, the Guards launched a series of military activities in the southwest of the country, including in Bushehr and Khuzestan regions, and in Gulf lakes.
The regions are home to Iran’s big oil and petrochemical services, with Bushehr even hosting the country’s nuclear power plant.
Guards naval captain Alireza Tangsiri told IRNA that the tasks simulated protecting these places, citing” delicate jobs.”
Tangsiri also said that Iran was producing cruise missiles with ranges “exceeding 1, 000 kilometres ( 621 miles ) that are utilised with AI technology”.
The implementation of the rockets comes months after notes from Iran’s highest leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, urging the government to “master synthetic intelligence”.
Since its 1979 rebellion, the Muslim state has developed a series of sophisticated missiles and uavs following its split in ties with the United States, which had been Tehran’s major arms supplier.
The missile test comes a day after US President Donald Trump’s opening, which was hailed for his “maximum pressure” policy toward Iran during his first name, which ended in 2021.
Trump said Thursday that he hoped to avoid strikes against Iranian nuclear sites, calling for a “deal” with Tehran, the sworn foe of the US and its alliance, Israel.
