According to notes made at a Republican legislative retreat in Miami on Monday, US President Donald Trump made the announcement that he plans to build a regional variation of Israel’s renowned” Iron Dome” missile defense system.
The professional purchase will establish a cutting-edge air defense shield to protect the United States from weapon threats.
” We need to immediately start the development of a state-of-the-art Iron Dome weapon defence weapon, which will be able to defend Americans”, Trump stated. He highlighted that the system, like Israel’s, will be produced domestically, saying,” It will be made right here in the USA”.
The Israeli Iron Dome has won praise all over the world for its ability to intercept short-range rocket attacks, especially in recent problems with Hamas and Hezbollah. Trump praised the structure, saying it “knocks over just about every one of them” and put the United States ‘ right to the same level of protection in its place.
Experts have noted that the Iron Dome is specifically designed for short-range rocket threats and may not address US’s main missile concerns, such as intercontinental ballistic missiles ( ICBMs), despite Trump’s announcement drawing from Israel’s success.
A more sophisticated, split missile defense shield is required by the executive order, which, according to a CNN fact sheet, can withstand threats from projectile, hypersonic, and advanced cruise missiles.
Although no specific date or price projections were provided, the project envisions space-based systems to detect and neutralize problems. In addition to the Iron Dome initiative, Trump is likely to sign three other executive orders focused on military policies, including reinstating service members discharged for refusing Covid-19 vaccination, banning transgender individuals from military service, and ending Diversity, Equity and Inclusion ( DEI ) programs in the armed forces, reported CNN.
