Jim Acosta, the former CNN anchor and former White House editor, has departed the system after nearly two decades. Announcing his departure during his last spread, Acosta said he decided to leave rather than take a change to a midnight-to-2 am day slot, part of CNN’s new programming reshuffle.
Days later, Acosta revealed his future walk, launching an independent platform on Substack.
During his last spread on CNN, Acosta delivered a pointed information, apparently aimed at his longtime attack, Donald Trump. ” Don’t give in to the lies. Don’t give in to the anxiety. Hold on to the wisdom and hope”, he told viewers. Reflecting on his profession, Acosta highlighted his policy of former President Barack Obama’s 2016 visit to Cuba, where he interviewed Raul Castro, as a personal and professional step. He called it a training in resilience, stating,” It is never a good time to spear over to a dictator”.
As per The New York Post, Acosta, who is of Caribbean origin, connected his practice to his dedication to holding authority to consideration.
Moving to Substack
Acosta made his announcement via a video on X ( formerly Twitter ) shortly after leaving CNN. ” I’m going separate, at least for today”, he said in the film, which introduced his innovative Substack software, The Jim Acosta Show. He intends to use the software to engage in intelligent discussions about pressing problems while bringing up politicians and current events.
According to The Wrap, Acosta joins a growing list of popular editors, such as Taylor Lorenz and Matt Taibbi, who have transitioned to Substack to undertake independent media. In his introductory information on the platform, Acosta reiterated his farewell concept:” Do not give in to the rests. Do not give in to worry. Hold on to the fact, and hope”.
Donald Trump, a frequent critic of Acosta during his presidency, reacted to the news of his exit with a withering post on Truth Social, labelling Acosta a “major fool” and celebrating his return as” great information”.
But, Acosta replied to Trump’s post on social media app X and wrote,” Looks like someone has ADS: Acosta Derangement Syndrome”.
We want to thank Jim for the determination and commitment he’s made to his reporting and wish him the very best of all future endeavors. A prior statement from CNN acknowledged Acosta’s commitment to editorial freedoms.
