Rapper DJ Unk died of a heart attack, his partner has revealed time after , his suicide at age 43.
The attack , killed him as he slept, his family,  , Sherkita Long-Platt, told TMZ.
Long-Platt noted that her father, whose given name was  , Anthony Platt, did not accomplish drugs, dispelling stories his dying was substance-related.
She revealed the information on Sunday, the same day relatives, friends and fans , honored him at a ceremony and balloon release , in Atlanta ‘s , Central Park. They remembered him for his , generosity and compassion as well as his craft, as , WXIA-TV , reported.
DJ Unk had had a , brain strike in 2009 when he was only 27, he told hip-hop news site XXL in a 2010 meeting. The singer, who plays” Walk it Out” and” 2 Step,” attributed that to poor eating habits and running himself into the ground while holding a slog of journey dates.
” I regularly be on the move, I constantly get on airplanes, in various conditions and you know it only took a toll on me”, he told the outlet. ” It was pressure”.
Unk claimed that his experiences had influenced him to alter his behavior. Long-Platt broke the heartbreaking reports on Friday by saying on Instagram that she had” only lost my husband and my children just lost their dad.”
His recording company, Big Oomp Records, paid tribute by publishing an Instagram post urging users to place virtual flowers on a post from Atlanta Culture, which referred to DJ Unk as an artist whose “brought energy that defined an era” ( ).
” Now, we celebrate the life and legacy of DJ Unk”, Big Oomp said. ” Place your plants in the comments , as we recognize his effects on , Atlanta , and beyond”.
Unk was known for his” Beat’n Down Yo Block” debut album, which hit No. 21 on the 2006 Billboard R&, B and Hip-Hop map. ” Move It Out” took the nation by party wind, and” 2 Step” went platinum.
That album record “didn’t simply give us hits, they gave us society”, Atlanta Culture said in its article honoring the fallen singer. ” From team floors to prevent parties, his song made all move”.
