DAMASCUS: On Tuesday, a group of Russian authorities made their first official explore to Syria since Bashar Assad’s collapse.
Assad, an alliance of Moscow, took shelter in Russia after his resignation in December in a thunder rebel unpleasant.
The group included Russian assistant foreign minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the Russian president’s special envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentyev, Russia’s RIA Novosti reported. No further information about the attend was provided by the state media organization.
There was no formal reply from Syria’s time state, but the semi-official Al Watan magazine reported that the Russian delegation would meet with the country’s de facto leader, Ahmad al-Sharaa, and with the its international minister.
Moscow’s scorched-earth action in support of Assad again turned the tide of Syria’s civil war.
Although Syria’s new authorities have no strained relations with Moscow or forced the Soviet military to completely leave their bases in Syria, Al Watan reported earlier this month that a deal with a Russian organization to handle the port in Tartous had been terminated.
Russia relocated its troops and resources from Syria to its key center at the Hmeimim heat base near Latakia following Assad’s overthrow. No indications have been made that Moscow was going to completely remove the Hmeimim bottom or the Tartus naval base.
The Russian naval service, which was leased under a different agreement, was not directly affected by the termination of a lease for a Russian firm to upgrade the Tartus professional interface.
Also Tuesday, a group from the Arab Authority made its first visit to Damascus.
The group, headed by Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, met with al-Sharaa, the PA said in a declaration. No specifics of the discussion were provided.
Israeli refugees in Syria, which total about 450, 000, were denied citizenship by previous Arab governments apparently to protect their right to return to the properties they fled or were forced to do so during the 1948 establishment of the state of Israel, where they are now prohibited from doing so. The new Arab state has not stated how it might view the refugees ‘ situation.
