The 2025 Sundance Film Festival is shifting toward” the center” of the political spectrum, marking a prominent shift from the show’s history.
” All of a sudden, the conversations are about’ Wow, I need to talk to the other aspect,'” Martino said. ” And so, it is satisfying to be here at Sundance, which is known to be thus left-leaning, knowing that there is a new accessibility to speech”.
As a well-known man on the right, I can’t begin to explain how implausible it is to be a Sundance video feature.
The truth is that this is occurring as a result of Donald Trump’s victory. It demonstrates that Sundance is straddling the center.

Martino added that the change in individuals being open to debate is a result of President Donald Trump‘s victory in the Electoral College and the popular vote in the poll of 2024. Because of this, people are beginning to realize that they shouldn’t always be a part of” the resistance” and investigate what their neighbors think.
Martino is a character in the film, which Barry Levinson and Robert May direct. He stated in a video posted to X that he first did not want to take part in the film but instead chose to when May informed him that no one with conventional views wanted to be a part of their line, which encouraged him to encourage people who share his views to take part in the job as well.
” And I am excited that this film is at Sundance, and I’m excited cause I’ve now seen the first two of five episodes”, Martino said. ” And you know what? ]Robert ] did exactly what he promised me: that he would portray it as it happened. I didn’t want to be portrayed as good or bad; I just wanted the truth to be revealed. And when the facts are told, guess what? Us on the Right, we look pretty damn rational”.
The new documentary series” Bucks County, USA,” which premieres at Sundance next week, includes my family in a significant way.

The main focus of Bucks County, USA is on two teenage girls named Evi and Vanessa, who are both friends despite their political differences. The directing duo met with numerous people in Bucks County, a politically divided county in a swing state that Trump won by a little over 120 000 votes in November.
Trump’s stated intentions at his inauguration last week include a “new golden age” of the country, which is the context of the Sundance Film Festival’s shift. Part of this bid for the nation’s new golden age includes Hollywood, with the president announcing earlier this month that actors Jon Voight, Mel Gibson, and Sylvester Stallone would be his “eye and ears” in Hollywood, which he described as a “very troubled place”.
